CHAPTER 30

Walking down the cold streets of Busan was a man in his early 30s. His teeth shuddering due to the drop of temperature in the surroundings as he shoved his hands inside his long black wollen coat. A sense of comfort in the dreadful winter storm.

He soon entered an abandoned like looking house as he unlocked the house as the lock fell down, “Shit-”  he muttered as he bent down to pick up, now broken lock as he opened the door with a ear wrecking screech, the thing was too old for anymore use.

He entered the wooden tiled house, all dusty and crankly and no matter how much he cleaned it, it still remained the same way as ever.

He then opened the fridge and God he cursed bad when he saw the good old expired Spaghetti, but did he have an option? Unfortunately no. So he grabbed the box and served himself the cold food. He was out of gas to heat the food anymore.

After his dinner, more like feeding his starving self, he sat down on the old wrenched out sofa which had loose springs sprang open and the leather ripped open. His gaze landed on the newspapers piled on the table as he shoved them aside, until his gaze fell on a particular article.

The man scoffed as he threw the newspaper aside as he took out a pack of cigarettes from the coat hanging on the wall as he lit up the cigarette with his lighter.

He inhaled the smoke with deep sense of comfort as he pulled out the cigarette and puffed out the heap of smoke out. This is what kept his body warm and mind calm.

His phone buzzed as he fished out that annoying device from his black coloured bag as he looks at the caller 'JaeHa'

He scoffed in annoyance as he threw the cigar and stomped on it as he picked up the call, “Spit.” he spat as the other person flinched slightly at the harsh tone.

“He wasn't home today so I pressed in the passcode and entered his apartment. Things...are the same, nothing has changed.” the person, who's supposed to be Jae-Ha spoke from the other end, as the man went silent.

“Everything?” he repeated as the lady hums in response, “Yes everything. Even that photo..” she mumbled the last word in a low coherent voice as the man let out a frustrated sigh.

“I found his diary.” She added as the man's eyes shot up, “Did you?” he asked as the lady on the other side hums while flipping through the pages.

“Yeah. The last entry was made on 11 December, 2023.” she mumbled while flipping to see if there's more but that was the very end, “December 2023?!!” the man asked as the lady hums again, this time in slight annoyance.

There was a silence at both the ends as Jae-Ha decided to break it, “I'll hand the diary—”

Before she could finish the sentence on call, the man's attention went towards the main door which was flung open as a lady in her late 20s entered while removing her overcoat.

“Guess what? I finally got a job in Elite Club as the manager.” She said with a huge grin on her face as the man's face brightened up as a warm smile spread across his lips.

“I'm so happy for you Jenna” He said as he walked towards her and hugged her as the lady hugged him back tightly while resting her head on his chest, “We can soon move into a better place honey.” she said as the man smiles while nodding as he pecked her hair softly.

“I'll work harder too Jenna..for you, for us..and for the upcoming little one.” he said warmly as he placed a hand on her stomach with warmth in his eyes.

“I know you will, love.” She said as she broke the hug and looked at him as the male pecked her lips softly, “Thank you for accepting me for who I am Jen.” he whispered as she smiles while cupping his cheeks.

“Past is Past Mister Gentleman. You've changed now.” She smiled warmly as she held his hand as the elder looks away, “I-i don't know about that Jen..i s-still vape..i- he would be still mad at me.” He whispered as thick tears slipped down his cheeks as his wife cupped his cheeks and made him look at him.

“No, your brother doesn't hate you honey.. Just talk to him and make amends, I'm sure he'll forgive you.” She said while gently wiping his tears with her thumb, “..and about vaping.. yes I agree you do vape but not as much as before yea? You're slowly stopping it.” she said soothing words as the other nods while wiping his tears.

“You're right..i-i will make amends with him, i-i will apologize.” he whispered as Jenna smiles warmly while looking at him.

“That's like my Gguk.”

An early update because prolly I won't be able to update for a week or more? If I have free time then I definitely will update.
