Chapter Thirty Four

"I feel like this was really productive, and the work you did with Dr. Cuhn sounds amazing. I am excited to further this healing journey you're on" Linda says.

"I've been feeling better, doing better. I know things won't be perfect but they are manageable."

"It's not perfect for anyone. Sometimes we have a bad day, week- hell year! It's okay to not be okay. But aiming to be better is all we can hope to do."

"I agree" I nod, and push to my feet. "Today was good. I'm excited to continue"

"Me too. Have a good weekend, honey" she gives me a smile. And then I'm heading out. I'm spending the day with the kids while Ethan does some pack business. He had to travel with Remi today. I'm heading to go pick up the kids from Noah, then we're going to get lunch and go shopping. Ana needs new clothes, and Zach needs some new shoes, and I've gained some weight, so I need some new jeans.

Ethan insisted we go take the day to go shopping and spend some time together, so that's what we're gonna do. I walk to Noah and Branson's house, because I still can't drive. Noah's gonna drop us off at the mall, and Xan is going to pick us up when I'm ready.

Once I get to their house, I walk in and slide my shoes off. Noah is playing in the living room with the kids when I come in. Ana grins, and comes running over. I scope her up and smile. "Hi pretty" I smooch her cheek, and she does it back to me giggling. I set her down, then scope Zach up. "Handsome man" I kiss the top of his head, and he gives me a quick hug before going back to playing.

"How were they?" I ask, cleaning up the toys. Noah starts to help.

"Good as always. They're nothing compared to Will and E. They were good kids, just a lot" Noah smiles, and we clean up the living room pretty quick. Then we load up the kids, and Noah takes me to the mall. I have a double sized stroller, so the kids sit in it while I push it through the mall.

We get Ana daycare clothes, play clothes and I get some more jeans. Then we get Zach some shoes, and we even find some stuff to give to Ethan as a thank you for everything. The stroller helps carry all the bags, so I don't have too.

The kids are very talkative, so it makes time pass nicely.

"Oh Connor?" That fucking girl who can't take a hint spots us, and she comes right over.

"Hi, Scarlett"

"Oh hey kids!!" Ana turns away when Scarlett tries to hug her, and Zach puts his arms around his little sister. "Zach" Scarlett looks at him with fake happiness. I can see the disgust in her eyes. "Anyways! How are you? Do you need me to take the kids for the day?"

"No!" The kids say in unison and it's like these sirens go off in my head. I need to get my kids away from her, and see what the fuck is going on.

"No, I'm great. I actually have to go, my rides waiting"

I haven't told Xan I'm done yet.

Xan picked us up and helped me get everything inside. The kids have been napping for a while now. Xan sent me a family recipe that goes in the crockpot, so I started that a bit ago. I've been sitting on the couch reading. Waiting for the kids to wake back up.

"Dada?" Ana's voice is soft, and she comes into the living room. She rubs her eyes, and yawns real big. "Z getting me drink" she murmurs, climbing onto the couch beside me.

"How'd you sleep princess?" I ask, combing my fingers through her hair to flatten her bed head. She shrugs, and pulls out a coloring book and starts coloring a pony.
