Huddled around a small table outside a cafe sat a familiar group of teens. Their redheaded manager had gathered them, excitement and curiosity evident in her features.
"So why did you call us all here so early in the morning, Gou? Last minute too…" Nagisa asks, leaning against the table with his arms spread out. Kou was too excited to even correct him.
"My brother is going to hang out with someone today!" She grins."I don't know who it is, but his roommate, we exchanged numbers not long ago, told me it was a girl! He said he overheard Rin talking to a girl this morning! And he said Rin left not that long ago, saying he was going to hang out with someone!"
"He asked Rin if it was who he was on the phone with, and he said yes!" She squeals, kicking her feet slightly in excitement.
"Rin has a girlfriend?!" Nagisa exclaims, leaning back in his chair in surprise. That news seemed to surprise everyone else and catch their curiosity.
"Do you know who it is?" Makoto asks, also curious about their friends' relationship status. After all, they finally saw him again after so long. Despite it not being the best conditions, they were still curious about their old friend.
While everyone was contemplating Rin's relationship status and trying to suspect who it could be, Haru notices a presence missing. Despite her not being within the friend group for long, he felt unsettled with the fact that her presence wasn't with them at that moment.
"Where's (Y/N)?" Haru cuts in, pointing out the presence of said girl missing.
"Oh, I tried to call her, but she didn't pick up. I'm guessing she's sleeping, " Kou replies, focusing back onto Rin shrugging her shoulders. "I don't want to bother her if she's sleeping. The more often I disturb her sleep, the more likely she'll get annoyed. Plus, she probably already knows"
"How would she know?" Rei asks, pushing up his glasses as he awaits the answer from Kou.
"Oh uh, well… I texted her as soon as I heard about it! So she'll see it when she wakes up. " She lets out an awkward giggle, covering up any slip-up she almost had.
"Maybe we can go undercover!" Nagisa brings up. He unintentionally switches the focus, getting hyper over the idea of being like spies. "We can find Rin and figure out who he is going out with!"
"Yeah!" Rei and Kou reply, supporting his idea strongly.
"I don't know. Maybe we should let Rin's personal life be in peace. " Makoto reasons, though it seemed to go in one ear and out the other.
"But Mako! Aren't you curious in the slightest who it could be?" Nagisa whines.
“Well…”
“No.” Haru cuts in, resting his head on his hand, staring off at the water before them. The cafe had a nice beach view overlooking the water. His head perked up slightly at the sight of two people walking along the sidewalk.
Picking up on the slight change from his friend, Makoto follows Haru's gaze. Red hair peeks out from over the few people walking by. A girl was next to him, a black hat placed haphazardly on her head. She seemed familiar, but no one could place a finger on it.
The silence of both boys caught the attention of the others as Nagisa pointed his hand to him shouting “Look it's Rin!”
Placing a hand over his mouth, Kou ducks down, forcing the others to also. “What do you not get about undercover? You were the one who suggested it!” She hisses.
“At least we found him now. All we have to do is follow” She replies.
The group had snuck out of their seats following behind the two. Haru and Makoto were more hesitant than the other three. They were far enough away that they were unable to hear their voices, but the interaction between the two could show how close they were.
