Chapter 54

The stylish suit splattered with blood stains, Taehyung stood still, his gloves soaked in deep crimson. The knife in his hand dripped with fresh blood, turning the green grass beneath him into a pool of red. In front of him, a man lay motionless, his last breath escaping after a futile struggle. A wicked smile played on Taehyung’s lips as he stared at the lifeless body. Signaling his guards, two of them stepped aside, and with a loud thud, the man's body collapsed to the ground.

Smirking, Taehyung gazed at the bloodied knife in his hand before crouching next to the lifeless body. A twisted grin spread across his face as he muttered,

--" Everything here operates under my rules. Nothing happens without my permission. It’s impossible for anything to escape my gaze. And yet, you, a petty thug dared to cross me, Kim Taehyung, here in my city, in my palace? How amusing. Truly laughable, worthy of framing as a cautionary tale!

He chuckled darkly before suddenly bursting into a loud laugh that echoed ominously. His laughter ceased abruptly as his face hardened. He gripped the knife tightly and, with a hyaena-like ferocity, drove it into the dead body’s chest several more times, his roar of anger filling the air.

--" How dare you! How dare you even think of separating me from what is mine? To plot against me and try to take away my life, my angel! Such a monstrous crime! I want to see the courage within you that fueled such a heinous act, the audacity to go against me. You bloody bastard!

Taehyung’s rage consumed him as he straightened up and delivered a hard kick to Sam’s lifeless body, causing the guards standing nearby to tremble in fear. His fury was uncontrollable, terrifying everyone present. As he raised his bloodied knife to strike again, a faint sound from behind caught his attention. The noise snapped him out of his rage, and he froze.

Taehyung turned around abruptly, his fiery eyes narrowing, but his expression quickly shifted. The ferocious anger disappeared, replaced by a chilling fear. His face paled, and a sense of loss and dread filled his gaze. Gulping nervously, he took slow, hesitant steps forward, his blood-stained knife slipping from his fingers as he was gripped by an unfamiliar vulnerability.

Jungkook stood there frozen like a statue, not even blinking. Tears streamed down from his wide eyes, his frightened expression turning colder and his body going numb. He clutched his clothes tightly with both hands, trembling uncontrollably. His gaze darted between the lifeless body on the ground and the bloodied, sharp knife in Taehyung’s hand. Slowly, Jungkook's fearful eyes fixed on Taehyung, unable to comprehend the violent side of the person he loved unconditionally.

Taehyung, noticing his gaze, quickly flung the knife far away. His voice quivered as he tried to speak, but before he could say anything, Jungkook stepped back, his movements shaky and his voice trembling as he stammered,

--" M-murder! You committed murder again. You’re not good, you’re... y-you’re horrible. I hate you.

Unable to control himself, Jungkook broke down into loud sobs. Panic and fear overtook him as he stumbled, muttering repeatedly,

--" M-murderer... You’re a killer.

Tears streamed down his face, smearing the liners around his eyes. Jungkook’s words tore through Taehyung’s heart like daggers, leaving him completely still. Each word dripped with fear and hatred, crushing him under their weight. The person he cherished most in the world, his Jungkook—was now looking at him with terror and revulsion.

Taehyung's mind reeled as he tried to process it. The pain was unbearable. Every step he took towards Jungkook only made the younger step further back. The thought of being pushed away again, as he had been in the past, left Taehyung on the verge of losing himself. A short while ago, everything had been fine between them. A short while ago, Jungkook had confessed his love to him. Would things now revert to the way they were?
