Jennie POV
I didn't know how to handle the storm of emotions that had been building inside me. My heart was still heavy with doubt, but hearing the recording... hearing Diana admit that there was nothing between them, that she kissed me without my consent, and that we didn't sleep together—that was enough. It was enough for me to finally breathe, to let go of the constant weight I'd been carrying.
But I wasn't ready to forgive her entirely. Not yet. The hurt still lingered, like a ghost that wouldn't leave. I needed to hear her, feel her sincerity. I needed to know that she wasn't lying again. And maybe, just maybe, I was ready to start believing in her again.
"Lisa," I whispered, my voice shaky as I tried to keep my emotions in check. "I don't know how to forgive you yet. I'm still hurt, still angry, but... what I heard in that recording... it helped."
Lisa was silent for a moment, her eyes searching mine like she was trying to read me. I could see the pain in her eyes, the way she was trying to hold herself together, even though I knew she was just as broken as I was. Slowly, she reached out, cupping my face in her hands.
"I never wanted to hurt you, Jennie," she whispered. "I was stupid, and I lied to you when I should've just told you the truth. I was afraid you'd leave me. But I swear to you, I never did anything with Diana. It was all just a misunderstanding."
I could feel her sincerity, the way she spoke so softly, like she was laying her heart bare for me to see. I wasn't sure if I was ready to forgive her, but I could feel the wall I'd built around my heart slowly starting to crack.
"I know," I said softly, my voice breaking. "I know you never meant to hurt me, but you did. And it hurt so much, Lisa. I trusted you."
"I know, and I don't deserve your trust, but I'll do anything to earn it back," she said, her voice full of desperation. "Please, Jennie. Please don't shut me out. I need you. I'll wait for you as long as it takes."
Her words struck me harder than I expected. I could see the pain in her eyes, the way she was holding herself back from pulling me into her arms. It was almost as if she was afraid to push me too far, to make me feel like I had to choose.
Before I could stop myself, I found myself leaning in, my lips meeting hers in a kiss that was desperate, hungry, as if we had both been starving for this moment. I kissed her like I couldn't breathe without her, my hands pulling her closer, wanting to feel her warmth again.
Lisa responded instantly, her hands threading through my hair, pulling me deeper into the kiss. It was messy, frantic, like we were trying to make up for lost time, trying to make the distance between us disappear. My heart raced as I felt her lips move against mine, the way her breath hitched when I pulled her closer.
When we pulled apart, I was breathless, my chest rising and falling in quick succession. Lisa's eyes were filled with longing, but there was also something else—something deeper, like she was asking me to trust her again.
"I'm sorry," I whispered, my voice barely above a whisper. "I don't know why I'm doing this, but I just... I just need you."
Lisa smiled softly, brushing a strand of hair from my face. "You don't have to apologize, Jennie. You don't have to explain. I just want to be with you."
