Chapter three

Mara gasped as Remy confirmed he was feeling what she also had been feeling. She looked away from Colby as a blush crossed her face. What happens now that Remy has somewhat claimed her? Remy kept his arms around her.

Colby stared at the two. He couldn't believe that his sister was his best friend's mate. Cora placed her hands on Colby's shoulders. The tension he didn't realize he had relaxed at Cora's touch. "Do you live here in town, then?" He asked, trying to show her he wasn't mad. She gave a small nod as her phone buzzed. She looked at her phone, frowned,  and began to pick her things up. "What pack to you belong to?" Colby had to ask. He wanted to figure something of her lost past out.

She shook her head, "I don't..."

Mara sat in the dark room of the studio she worked at. Being called in to process film wasn't something she exactly wanted to do, but she didn't really have a choice; she was low man on the totem pole. She left her brother and mate quickly after leaving them her number. Finally developing her two rolls and two rolls each from the four other photographers in the studio; as well as producing her favorites of her photos, she was done. She walked out with her finished products and placed them in the dryer slots. She sat down and finished what she had started earlier that day.

Somehow, Mara managed to be in the studio till dusk. She stood just inside the studio doors looking outside. With her bag over her shoulder, she took a deep breath in and began to walk home, her hands in tight fists at her sides. She kept her head up and focused on the goal ahead, the stairs to her one bedroom apartment. Her anxiety was at a low level, she was pleased. She didn't have to look like a crazy person.... that was till she again began to hear footsteps...again. All of her muscles tensed, she turned her head so she could listen behind herself better.  Her heart started beating quickly as the footsteps had caught up to her. She lost it then, and began to run. She couldn't help it. With all of her problems, she couldn't protect herself right now; hell, she could barely do it any other time. A large hand caught her shoulder, and she let out a scream. "Let go of me!!"

"Shh! Mara! Calm down!" Everything in her body immediately responded. Her ears knew the tenor voice. She had only heard it a few times but her mind and body responded like they had known the voice her whole life. She turned and melted into Remy's broad chest. Even after he scared the living shit out of her, she couldn't help it. He comforted her like no one else could; even just his touch soothed her racing heart. He wrapped her up in his strong broad arms, cradling her to his chest. "What's wrong, Mara?"

She shook her head, she couldn't spill the beans yet. "How did you find me?" Her small voice still shaky. She pulled away from Remy some, finally feeling a little stronger.

His worried gaze searched her face. He had watched her walk to the studio, and watched the studio till she left. He knew it sounded stalker-like but something in him had told him that's what he needed to do. And the way she was acting now, he was glad he was here to comfort her. He skimmed the responses he could give and decided that Mara deserved nothing but the truth. “I was watching you,” He paused and searched her beautiful turquoise eyes. “I’m worried about you, Mara.”
