Chapter Ten

Onika stood looking out upon the city her daughter called home. She sighed as she paced in the apartment. Why would she walk out in the middle of the night? She ran her fingers through her long dark red-black hair, quickly braiding it. She went to her bags and found her turquoise jewelry. She put it on and went outside. Standing on the sidewalk in the early morning light, Onika looked around for a good place to sit. Across the road in the park, she noticed a large, old oak tree and knew that's where she needed to be.

Sitting under the tree, Onika channelled all of her energy into finding something that would lead them to Mara. She soon saw the room that Mara must be kept in. She saw the one window and tried to see what was out of it; to maybe direct them in the right direction, but that didn't work... all she could see was the room Mara was being kept in.

Onika opened her eyes and sighed slightly again. Who would want her precious daughter? And what did they want with her? Please, just keep her safe....

Remy growled as he knocked things around in the garage. The only thing he could think of doing now was go to the Alpha and ask for a search party but Mara wasn't a member of his pack. He knew he couldn't leave pack territory or the neutral ground between pack territories. He walked to his truck, which was still parked in the driveway, and laid down in the bed.

You're just giving up...? Remy's wolf whimpered in the back of his mind. Remy shook his head and ran a hand over his face. Go to Alpha, he can help... Remy sighed and decided to comply to his wolf's wishes. He climbed out of the bed of his truck and opted to take his beloved sportster motorcycle. The loud rumble of the bike beneath him made him smile. He turned in the garage and took off down the driveway.

Mara rolled over and placed her feet on the floor. She walked up to the window and looked around. She could tell she wasn’t anywhere close to town. She sighed as she walked around the room. She stood in front of the vanity in the room and looked at herself. The bags under her eyes made her face look pale. She poked the dark spots and sighed. Her hair stuck out every which way; making her make a face at her hair in the reflection. She grabbed the brush on the vanity and brushed out her long black hair. She ran her fingers through it afterward and braided it with ease. Her fingers had been braiding hair for as long as she could remember. As she finished, the doorknob rattled and the door opened. The man that had talked to her earlier walked in. Mara took the time of him standing in the doorway to take in what he looked like. He was tall and built, but that was normal for being a werewolf. He had blonde hair that was close cut to his head. His eyes raked the room when he noticed she wasn’t laying on the bed. He smiled when he found her sitting in front of the vanity. Pushing the door closed behind him, he took a couple more steps into the room.

Mara swallowed hard as his dark brown eyes landed on her. She stood up and tried to show she wasn’t afraid. He walked up to her and pushed her loose bangs out of her face. He smiled, “Feeling any better, sweet Mara?”

She took a step away from him. She gave a quick short nod. “You’ve never given me your name...” He gave her a small smile as he walked up to the closet in the room. Mara watched him look through what was in the closet. He turned toward her and handed her a beautiful blue dress. It had a high-low hem, a slight scoop neck, and tank top straps. Mara looked at the dress and then back to him. He hung the dress on the closet door.
