Chapter Four
Remy stalked down the stairs. Everything that was said that night ran through his head. Something of Mara’s story stuck with him, he remembered it somehow. He began to jog to his motorcycle parked on the other side of the road as he remembered. He checked his cell phone for the time; almost ten o’clock. He threw his leg over his bike, pulled his snug helmet over his head, and headed for his mother’s house. He knew it would take him a little more than an hour to get there but he needed answers. He started the sportster and took off.

Remy pulled up to his childhood home, muscles tense. His thoughts never quit running the whole trip there. He should have been tired, but he wasn’t. The adrenaline running through his system was keeping him awake. He stormed in the front door, surprising his mother who was watching the late night news.
“Remington! What are you doing here so late?” His mother stood up and took a step toward him.
Remy looked over his mom. Her hair was more red than his, and her hazel eyes were slightly dull with age. His fists at his side, he was angry as the puzzle in his head was almost finished. “Mom, I need to see him.”
Remy’s mom tilted her head. She looked over her first born son. He was beautiful. He was built like his father; tall, muscular, and looked like a god. He had his father’s eyes, and she could see he was on a mission. His eyes had the same look to them as his father’s did when he had business to attend to. “What do you mean, son?”
He shook his head, “Mom, don’t play games with me. I need to see dad or you need to give me information.”
She tensed. She knew that the only thing he would want to know about was the raid his father participated in when he was a toddler. She sighed as she looked past Remy. “Remy-”
“Mom, just tell me.” Remy interrupted. He had information he needed and nothing was going to stop him.
She let out a deep breath again and nodded once. “Follow me...” She led them out the back door. She walked to the one place she had never thought she would ever go to. She knew of the headquarters of the elites, but she had never been inside. With her husband being one of the top elites when they were taken down by the counsel, she was given the keys to the place. They walked through the dense forest on a path that had been worn down by the many feet that had walked the path many times before. Finally breaking the tree line, there stood a big building. The wear of the years of nonuse and weather had the building looking like one that had been left of some of the first buildings ever built. She unlocked the door and walked in, with Remy following. She led him to an office that held all the documentation. She unlocked the office door and let Remy in. “Who are you looking for, Remy?”
“The girl.... Colby’s sister.”
She gasped at what he said. When the raid on the small pack village across the valley happened, the elites had killed all the men that were fighting them and took all the children and women. The elites were a large group of werewolves who believed their line was THE line of werewolves, what they said should be believed by everyone and everyone should follow them. The small pack across the valley wouldn’t conform and had changed how they ran everything. During the raid, her husband had found a set of twins, which confused him. Twins weren’t common in any line, except if the line was a direct descendant of the original family. Her husband decided that the boy would be raised by him, and he threw the girl into hiding. She hadn’t agreed to what he had done, but she couldn’t protest otherwise. She was put in charge of taking food to the girl every day. Her husband went with her, he wouldn’t allow anyone to talk to her at all. Finally finding her file, she handed the manilla folder to her son. Remy grabbed it with delicate fingers and thumbed through it. There was a photo of young Mara. Her eyes full of fear; and she was tiny, so tiny. He recognised his father’s handwriting, explaining how he had found her and what he had done with rest of her family. A growl erupted from Remy. He couldn’t believe what the man he called father his whole life had done. He grabbed the file and stalked out of the room.
