Chapter Fourteen
Colby pulled Cora closer to him as he woke up and kissed her head. He smiled, feeling totally at peace at the moment. He opened his eyes and stretched out as Cora let out a deep breath. He rolled over to her and rested his chin on her bare chest, smiling up at her.
She giggled at him and ran her fingers through his black hair, staring into his beautiful turquoise eyes. “Good morning.” He gave her one of his lopsided grins that made her heart do a flip flop in her chest. She knew with them being mates, she would naturally have very strong feelings toward him but Cora knew that even if they weren’t mates she would have been head over heels for this man. He was wonderful, he treated her well, he made sure she was taken care of before anything else.
“Happy birthday, baby.” He moved his body up hers and placed a light kiss on her lips. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her from the bed and carried her to their en suite bathroom, starting the shower water. He sat her down in the shower and followed her under the almost scalding water that cascaded over their bodies. He reached behind her and adjusted the water as Cora wrapped her arms around his neck, pressing kisses to his neck and jawline. Colby stepped her back against the wall of the shower, lifting her body to match his height. He kissed and nibbled her neck, starting his way down her chest; earning himself a moan of pleasure that pushed him to the edge. He lifted her body more, holding her up easily as he trailed more kisses down her body. His tongue explored her, causing her to gasp in enjoyment and need. The smell of her arousal caused a growl to ripple through his chest as he lowered her down onto him, causing her to gasp. The two found their rhythm, satisfying both of their needs.
Finishing their shower, Colby walked downstairs before Cora to prepare breakfast for them. He stretched his arms out in front of him as his eyes caught sight of the keys he had left on the island in the kitchen. He grinned as he remembered the birthday card he had bought her that was sitting in her new car. He pulled out the carton of eggs, a few veggies from the crisper, and the sausage that was thawed. He sat the things on the counter and bent down to the cabinet that held the pans; the organization of the kitchen, thanks to Cora. He began to chop up the vegetables as the sausage was browning in the skillet. He soon heard Cora’s light footsteps come down the stairs. He chuckled as he felt her wrap her arms carefully around his waist, placing a soft kiss on his bare shoulder. He turned and placed a kiss on her head, “Your present is on the island.” He said in a soft voice.
He turned around to watch her. He could tell she was confused, seeing the key set sitting there. She picked the key ring up and looked to him. He nodded to her, “Go see.” He said in a small voice, a smile stretching across his face. He followed her outside and she squealed when she saw the sleek black car. She beeped the car open, marveling at the newness of everything within the brand new Chevy Impala.
“Colby! You didn’t have to!” She squealed happily, hopping quickly out to hug him tightly.
He chuckled. “I did, you deserve it. Happy Birthday, baby.” He pulled her back some and kissed her softly. He pushed her gently back toward the car.
She sat in the driver’s seat, looking over everything with a big smile. He flicked the sun visor down, causing the envelope to flutter down into her lap. She grabbed it, and smiled warmly up to him. She pulled out the card and read it, the smile never leaving her face. She got out of the car and hugged Colby again. “Thank you Colby, this is wonderful.”
He grinned, “You deserve it, babe.”
They went inside and finished cooking their skillet breakfast together.

Mara walked into the dinning room behind Grace, placing a salad on the table, then finding her place beside Remy. She folded her hands in her lap and looked around. She was nervous, she wasn’t going to lie to herself but she tried to stay composed. Remy’s family intimidated her; even his sixteen year old brother was bigger than she was, and he wasn’t finished growing. She fidgeted in her seat as she felt it seemed everyone was watching her. She pushed her hair behind her ear and let a deep breath out.
