TW: Curse wordsThe next day...
Third person POV
Sariah was watching Leslie, she was supposed to take her to soccer practice but she knew something was gonna happen while they weren't there. Lillian and Oscar were gonna talk, "Your mom has been keeping something from you." She told Leslie.
Leslie was confused and about to say something when she cut her off, "Look there's gonna be someone here in a few minutes and they're gonna talk about stuff you don't know about. But you deserve to know."
She didn't seem convinced but she just sat there, Leslie was in an outfit for soccer practice but she waited. Sariah seemed serious about all this, and usually, she's the type to just joke around half the time.
A few minutes later...
Lillian and a man had come into the apartment, Sariah had made sure Leslie was quiet so the both of them could listen. "We have to tell her, she's gonna figure it out soon enough." A familiar voice worried she knew that voice and of course, it was Oscar.
"That you're her dad? It could spread around quickly and my daughter-"
"Our daughter," Oscar corrected.
"Our daughter is already going through enough, imagine when people find out that she's your kid. Especially Owen and Levi, even me!" Leslie's eyes widened and her hands started shaking, her mouth was hanging open.
"Go confront them, now, or else you'll regret it," Sariah whispered, she immediately opened the door and stood right in the doorway of the hallway. "Him! A gang leader is my dad! I got shot because of him, yet you're acting like nothing happened." She shouted as she pointed at Oscar.
Lillian and Oscar's eyes widened as hell, their mouths dropped to the floor. "I wanted to tell you so bad, I've always wanted a daughter." His voice barely above a whisper, Leslie's expression was full of so many emotions. Betrayal, anger, and sadness.
"How long have you known?" She asked
"Leslie-" Oscar mumbled.
"How long?!" She shouted, Oscar looked down at the ground before he glanced back at her. His face was full of guilt, he couldn't bring himself to answer. But he had to, "almost 3 years." Leslie laughed and she started to tear up,
"So you're telling me, all these years I thought my dad hated me, or my brothers. Literally anything else, turns out he was in front of me this whole time." Her voice cracked, and Lillian looked at her with shame.
"Baby, I'm so sorry. I didn't know how to tell you." She apologized, and Leslie stared at her with hatred. "I don't even recognize you, this isn't my mom." She said softly, Lillian's expression softened and her hands began to tremble.
Levi and Owen came back from a cross-country meeting and sensed the tension in the room, they all stared at each other when Owen realized what was happening. "Shit, y'all told her?" Leslie's expression hardened, she laughed as she looked down.
"Did everyone know except me? Was I just too young or what, how I was not able to know my dad?" Levi clenched his jaw and tightly held his bag, she looked at him with teary eyes. "I didn't know how to tell you," Levi answered.
"Blame our parents!" Owen yelled.
"Oscar's not my dad, even if I don't know the full story. He's not my dad, my life's ruined enough yet somehow there's something new every day." Leslie angrily said, she clenched and unclenched her fists.
"I think I should take Leslie somewhere, just so she could calm down," Sariah recommended as she came out of Leslie's room, Lillian nodded and pointed towards the door. "Just go, I don't care." She trembled, Leslie and Sariah quickly left then Lillian broke down crying.
Sariah's POV
While in my car, Leslie was just staring blankly at the floor. The last time she was like that was when she got shot, I could tell the moment I started talking, she would start crying. I mean I get it, finding out someone you resented for a long time was your dad.
Anyway, I continued driving then we pulled into a parking lot. "Leslie, I don't know what you're gonna through right now but I'm always gonna be here." I tried reassuring her, but she shook her head and placed her head in her hands.
"It's not, news is gonna get around that I'm his kid. But it's not even gonna matter, everybody is gonna be focused on their new kid." She muttered, I laid my hand down on her back and rubbed it a bit.
"I just want you to know I'm always gonna be here, screw everyone else. Baby, I will be here because I've been in this situation with my friends and even myself." She turned to look at me with sadness in her eyes.
"How did you get past this?" Leslie asked quietly, her tone sounded like she was gonna bawl her eyes any second. I thought about it for a second before replying, "I realized I should give him a second. And always know the other side of the story."
"Why are you saying it like that-" Leslie wondered
"It's doesn't matter, maybe ask Oscar about this."
She glanced back down at the floor and sighed lowly. "I guess. I ain't doing it right now though, maybe give me a few days to think about this." Leslie agreed, I smiled a bit and rubbed her back a bit more.
"It will get better, there's just always changes in life though," I whispered
A week later...
Leslie's POV
I was walking to school when a familiar voice came up from behind me, "Leslie!" Cesar yelled, I turned around before realizing who it was and rushed quickly. He managed to catch up with me and he was alone, and of course, Vero was with him.
"Leave me alone, I don't really wanna talk to anyone right now." My voice barely above a whisper, Cesar groaned before turning to Vero. "You're really Oscar's kid?" She asked.
I sighed softly and gripped my backpack strap, I nodded slowly and bit my lip. Cesar's eyes widened slightly and nodded gently, "That's all I wanted to ask. I won't keep you here," he could probably tell I was hella nervous.
Before they left I yelled, "I miss the old us! Monse, Jamal, you, me, and Ruby." My voice cracked a bit and I turned away and walked away.
"Who's Monse?" Vero asked.
"No one, just some girl that Ruby brought to me in third grade," Cesar mumbled.
