Vira's POV

"Vivaan!"

I jumped over a Lego tower, trying to avoid stepping on the treacherous toy bricks, while balancing a spoonful of dal rice in one hand, and a glass of water in the other. Gosh, no one told me parenting was this hard!

Our little toddler, Vivaan, was waddling around, now that he'd finally learnt how to walk, giggling like someone had just made a joke, and our once calm, quiet baby, had entered his terrible twos, and now we were facing his wrath.

"Vivu!" I shouted.

I groaned and stopped, my lungs begging for air. After giving birth, I'd recently been extremely out of shape and couldn't run long distances like I'd been able to before. Damn. How can I not keep up with a baby? I need to hit the gym.

I made my way slowly to the door, where baby Vivaan was evidently headed, as the keys jingling in the lock, and I smiled to myself, knowing Shubman was home. The door opened, and Vivaan stepped back.

This handsome man had his kit bag hung off one shoulder, and was carrying three bags of groceries in one hand. Oh, I'm melting...marry me again, Shubu...

"Papa!" Vivaan exclaimed cutely.

I jolted myself back into reality, as he put the grocery bags down lightly, and scooped Vivaan up effortlessly, holding him up to the sky, and playing Rocket with him.

Rocket was Vivaan's favourite game, where Shubman would lift him up, holding him under the armpits, with Vivaan's legs hanging in the air, and then swoosh him round and round, like a rocket.

Awww....

Shubman pretended to drop Vivaan, and he immediately screamed, but Shubman quickly grabbed him before he could fall any further, playing similar games with Vivaan, before bringing him onto his chest, and placing a light kiss on his forehead.

He brought Vivaan to me, and said "I hope you haven't been troubling Mama, eh?" I smiled, gesturing to the spoon of rice. "Say ahhh. Yes, baba, copy Papa. Ahhh."

Shubman held his mouth open, while I fed him a spoon of dal rice. Watching him, Vivaan did the same, and I took my chance to put a spoon of rice in his mouth. Ahh, Shubman and his genius parenting ideas.

Neither of us (obviously) had been parents before, and all of this was new to us. Picking up after a little version of ourselves, having another mouth to feed, giving up our together time to prioritise Vivaan.

But, we loved it. I was glad to have Shubman to help me navigate through this new realm that was parenthood. I can't imagine what it would be like to be a single mother. Me and Shubman could barely manage to do everything together, and the idea of handling a newborn child alone scared me. Hats off to single parents.

Once we'd finished feeding Vivaan, I went towards the door, and picked up the bags of groceries Shubman had dropped, and attempted to pick up the third one, but to no avail. "What the fuck is in here?"

Shubman's head snapped to me, and ran towards me, putting Vivaan down. "Don't lift that, it's too heavy."

"It's okay, I've got it."

"Vira." He gave me a serious look, threatening a punishment (he'd tickle me till I cried) with his eyes.

"Yaar, tu bohot chinta karta hai. Kuch nahi hoga." I said, trying to pick it up again.

"Vira." He said again, in a warning tone.

I put down the other bags, and attempted to lift it, never breaking eye contact with Shubman, teasing him. I looked down to grab the bag handles, but before I could look up and lift the bag, I felt a strong pair of arms grab my waist.

"Absolutely not." Shubman said, through gritted teeth, and a husky voice, in my ear.

He lifted me effortlessly, as I kicked and fought against him, but he wouldnt put me down. "SHUBMAN LAKHWINDER GILL! PUT ME DOWN!"

"Chup."

And with that, he tossed me onto the sofa, cupped my cheek, and kissed me HARD. I'd mentally prepared for the kiss, but not physically, and the passion he was kissing with was too much for my lungs, and left me breathless, as I tried to push him away so I could take a breath.

"Mm! Shubu!" I complained, against his lips.

He fought a smile, as he finally pulled away, giving me a second to breath, before connecting our lips again.

"Shubman!"

He pulled away, and chuckled, looking at my probably flushed cheeks and reddened lips.

"Idiot!" I exclaimed, blushing profusely, and hit his chest lightly.

He gave his hot, dimpled smile, and I couldn't help but melt. "Chal, aaja." And he pulled me into his arms, and a pool of warmth and safety swelled in my heart.

"I love you, Shubu." I whispered.

"I love you more."

"No, I do!" I shot back.

"No, me."

"No, I-" He cut me off with another kiss. "Shhh."

He hugged me, and Vivaan came up to us and started lightly hitting my leg. "Oi!" I giggled.

"Tujhe bhi aana hai?" I cooed, and lifted him, so that we all hugged.

Shubman kissed my forehead, then Vivaan's, which brought a smile to my face. He pulled me (and Vivaan, who was on my lap) closer.

"I love you."

"We love you too."
