Vira's POV
The evening had settled comfortably over Ishan’s apartment after a lively dinner. We were all sprawled around the living room, enjoying each other’s company and the warmth of the evening. Priya, ever the instigator, proposed we play a game of Truth or Dare, and everyone eagerly agreed.
As we gathered in a circle on the floor, the bottle spun with a cheerful clink on the wooden table. Priya was the first to go, and the bottle landed on me. I tried to hide my nervousness as Priya grinned mischievously.
“Truth or dare, Vira?” she asked.
I took a deep breath and replied, “Dare.”
Priya’s eyes lit up. “I dare you to sing a Bollywood song with an accent.”
I laughed, feeling a bit embarrassed but ready to go along with it. I picked Kala Chashma and sang it with an exaggerated British accent, which had everyone laughing and clapping. I ended with a dramatic bow, and the room erupted in applause. I felt a flush of relief and amusement.
The bottle spun again and landed on Shubman. He looked at Priya, and I caught a glimpse of uncertainty in his eyes. “Truth or dare?” Priya asked him.
“Dare,” Shubman replied, trying to sound confident.
Priya’s grin widened. “I dare you to give a compliment to someone in this room.”
Shubman glanced around, his gaze eventually landing on me. “Vira,” he said, his voice warm. “You have a great sense of humour. It’s one of the best things about you.”
The compliment was sweet but came off a bit awkwardly. Tu hi toh tha na, jo meri humour ka bezaati kar raha tha? I noticed Priya’s smile falter slightly, though she quickly masked it. I felt a twinge of discomfort but tried to brush it off. Mujhe hi kyun bolna tha, yaar?
As the game continued with various dares and truths, the atmosphere remained light and fun. Shubman’s earlier compliment had created a slight ripple, but the evening’s energy remained upbeat.
When it was my turn to spin the bottle, it slowly came to a stop, pointing at Ishan. My heart skipped a beat as Priya asked him, “Truth or dare?”
“I’ll go with dare,” Ishan said confidently, though there was a hint of anticipation in his eyes.
Priya’s grin widened with mischief. “I dare you to kiss the person you like in this room.”
A hush fell over the group. Ishan’s gaze locked with mine, and I felt a thrill of anticipation. His eyes were soft and serious, and I could see a mixture of determination and vulnerability.
Ishan stood up and walked over to me. “Vira, can we step outside for a moment?”
My heart raced as we moved to the quieter balcony. The night air was crisp, and the city lights twinkled in the distance. Ishan turned to face me, his expression earnest.
“I know this might be unexpected,” he said softly, “but I’ve been feeling something for you for a while. I didn’t want to say anything until I was sure, but now I am.”
Before I could respond, Ishan leaned in. Our lips didn't touch, because he'd given me the choice as to whether I wanted to kiss him or not. Such a gentleman. I obliged and connected our lips, cupping his cheek.
The kiss was gentle and warm, a mix of tenderness and unspoken affection. I felt a rush of happiness as our lips met, and the world around us seemed to disappear. The kiss was sweet and sincere, and I found myself smiling into it.
When Ishan pulled back, I looked into his eyes, feeling a flutter of joy and excitement. “Ishan,” I began, but my words faltered, a blush forming on my cheeks. I felt a mixture of happiness and uncertainty, but the warmth of the kiss lingered in my heart. I was unable to form a sentence, and all I could do was gaze lovingly into his eyes.
“It’s okay,” Ishan said softly, understanding my surprised emotions. “I just needed to be honest with you.”
We reentered the living room, and I noticed Shubman’s gaze shift towards me. He seemed distant, his usual relaxed demeanour replaced with a hint of sadness. Priya, too, seemed quieter, her earlier enthusiasm overshadowed by the new dynamics.
As we settled back into the game, the atmosphere felt different. The kiss with Ishan had shifted something in the group’s energy, and I couldn’t shake the feeling that things had changed.
The night continued with a mix of lighthearted games and underlying tension. As we said our good nights, I felt a blend of emotions—happiness from the kiss, confusion from the changed dynamics, and a sense of unease about the shifts in relationships around me.
The evening ended with unresolved feelings, and as we parted ways, I knew that the night had brought changes that would take time to understand and navigate.
