Sophie's pov

Why don't I even get to say goodbye to Annabeth and all my friends? I thought for the millionth time. The Peter Johnson series is still in my hand, my fingers grasping the pages, separating them one by one; thinking of ways of how I could just step into those fantasy worlds that people read and have characters that people fawn over about.

Wouldn't it just be nice to have people fawning over you and have an interesting life in a world that people wish they could be in?
I sighed, people who don't read are missing out a lot..

I was about to get out my phone to text Annabeth about how I can't go to school now since my school fee only supports me until the end of the semester when someone knocks on my dorm door.
"Marella, do you reckon that anyone's coming over right now?" I ask her, glancing over to see her doing her nails.
"Nope, except if you count the fact that I ordered new hair-curlers and nail polishes online then yeah." She replied, eyes never coming off her nails.

The person knocked again, so I got off my bed and walked to the door. "Who's there?" I shouted, hoping the person opposite the door could hear me.
"Annabeth!!"
I swung open the door, unable to contain my excitement from showing.

"A-Annabeth!!" I said, tackling her with a bear hug. "What are you doing here right now? I thought you have class and you never ditched?"
"Well things are about to change." She replied, winking.
"I heard that you're not coming to school anymore......" Annabeth said quietly, avoiding my gaze.
"Uh-um..... yeah, I was about to text you about that." I said, the silence between us suddenly felt unbearable.

"I'm going to miss you so so so so so much." Annabeth said as she finally looked up, tears already finding their way to her feet.
"Don't cry....." I wiped her tears away, the same way mom would to me. "Me too. But...... hey, we can text each other daily and maybe even face-time during the weekends?"

"Yeah....." she sniffled and hugged me again. This felt........... final. Like a goodbye sort of thing.

"I guess this is goodbye....." Annabeth said finally, the words that's been circulating in my brain.
"But it's not for forever...." I replied, smiling.
"This..... is this going to be a normal thing from now? Not seeing each other?"
"P-probably.... I'm going to miss you so so so so so much. But hey, you have Percy!!" I said, trying to make her feel happy again.
"Y-yeah, but Percy isn't the same as you."

"Don't let him hear that" we laughed, and maybe..... maybe this might be the last laugh we will share for a long time..

Guys I won't be able to update fr this time cuz my flight is tonight and I have to get ready.... So until then, have a nice day and keep reading—toodles!!! And Happy Christmas Eve!!!
