Zeus was impossible to be with, and I was glad for Hades' little gimmick so Peter would hear 'Josh', because I kept calling him Zeus.

I was in my room, studying, or pretending to, while I could hear Zeus rummaging around. Peter wasn't home, and Athena was busy with whatever it was she did. I'd also quit tutoring Zeus in the water, as he, at this point, only did it to taunt me.

Oh, and I could taunt him right back, as the water was my element. But that would break the code of the Fates, and I respected the Underworld out of them.

My globe buzzed next to me.

I picked it up and saw Hades flicker before me.

"What's up?" I asked him.

"Please check up on your realm," he told me.

"Meaning?" I asked him and got out of bed. I figured it was safer to go there compared to shifting here.

"Zeus is dragging Athena under, and based on how uncomfortable she is, Melinoë poked me."

"That's bad," I whispered. "From above or below?"

"Above, you idiot," Hades said. "Don't freak her out more."

"Fair, got to go," I muttered and darted out of the room. And fuck Zeus for pretending to be here when he wasn't.

In passing his room, I saw one of Josh's friends there, and I could've strangled the guy despite him having done nothing wrong.

Once outside, I cheated a little, ensuring no one saw me, and dressed in running gear and ran to the beach. It was easier for me to explain.

The weather wasn't super good, so the water would undoubtedly be cold for her.

The sky was also gray, but Zeus and I could inflict one another with weather and water, so that wasn't always a giveaway.

I sprinted to the beach and dropped my shoes so I could feel the water to where the fuck they were.

Hidden. Of course.

I missed my trident, that gave me a better feel of what was going on even when I couldn't feel the water.

I ran in forever until I found his little hiding spot. She was fighting him, and I was oddly proud at her for not succumbing. She was in her bikini, the one with the straps she'd worn the first time I met her, which wasn't reassuring at all.

Was she about to see Poseidon or what was going on?

I paused for a beat, but she had every right to, and I knew I had to tell her at some point. But not like this.

"What the fuck are you doing?!" I cursed at Zeus.

His dark eyes could've kept me in place if I wasn't in the water. My element, he couldn't rule over me there.

I treaded through the water and rounded the little cliffy thing he'd found as his hiding spot.

Athena looked relieved as hell that I was there, although she still held unto Josh's arm to prevent him from doing whatever his plan was. To push her under.

"I'm making her see reason," Zeus said, and it was forbidden, but he used his godly strength and whipped her under.

I could give her an air bubble to breathe in, but that would break the rules, and so I did the second-best thing; I dived under, grabbed Athena and pulled her out of Zeus' grip.
