Insane or not?

Two guys whistled when I walked by on my way back to the dorms. I was in shorts, over the bikini bottoms, and the bikini top. The towel was in the bag I was carrying over one shoulder.

What the fuck just happened?

I was in the water, the not-quite-human thing dragged me under, and I was met by a merman, who clearly wasn't pleased to see me?

And then Poseidon. I wasn't even about to consider that.

I picked up my speed to get back to the dorm and shower and put on clothes again.

The dorm was empty when I got there, no sign of Tara. I wouldn't have changed clothes before her if she wasn't gay, so I brought whatever I needed to the showers and pulled off the top. Good thing, I could untie the straps, but it was a soggy mess.

I showered, dried, dressed, and went back to the dorm.

I put on pants and a t-shirt and went to the dining hall for lunch. I ate something without tasting and brought back a pear and a banana for later.

Tara was still out.

I was glad to be alone, for once.

I lay down on the bed and opened my laptop. I couldn't even google this, because clearly, I'd be a mental case if I did, and I wasn't ready for that. I wasn't crazy.

I found a movie instead, Lilo and Stitch, on Disney plus.

"Athena?" Tara's voice was quiet.

I opened my eyes and started at the blank screen, before I looked up at Tara. She had showered, but she was still in the dress from last night. "Hi," I said. "I was watching Lilo and Stitch. I must've fallen asleep."

Tara smiled. "Yeah, I noticed. I already have flash cards, so don't make them. And it's not happening right now." She walked to her bed and plopped down on the sturdy bed with a sigh. "My God!"

"Good party?" I asked and rolled over on my side.

"Oh yes," she said. "Made out with a guy from the biology department. He looked cute, not a good kisser." She looked over at me. "He kissed me, I just kissed him back, because I was drunk, and I like to kiss."

"I'm not judging," I said. Merely curious. I'd never kissed a girl, and I never planned on doing it.

"You still think it's weird, just admit it," Tara said. "What did you do?"

"I went to the beach and went for a swim," I said and looked at the ceiling. "And fell asleep, obviously."

"Figures," she said. "You okay after yesterday?"

"Yeah," I said. "I'm fine."

She nodded. "Hey, I'll just put on different clothes. You up for dinner?"

Again, we repeated the eating at the dining hall. Her friends or friends' friends were just magically there, but it was okay. Sometimes it's actually super nice to sit at a table and just be, instead of always sitting alone.

I didn't spot Michelle, or Poe or Daniel. Michelle was nice, the two boys I could do without for now.

Back in the dorm, we did some flashcards on those freaky Gods.
