Peter was, thankfully, not there, and so I didn't even bother hiding. And I liked the feel of my trident. I just hoped Athena wrote that off to a dream. Fuck it. Fuck my mind for being so in the moment, so with her, I snapped right back into my own body.
Zeus was still on the couch, looking bored. "Never, ever, knee me in the balls ever again." He said and looked up at me. Oh, he was not bored, he was raging.
"Never, ever, disregard a no," I told him. "It's the twenty-first century, it can get you locked up."
He shrugged as if he didn't care and stood. "That bitch is like Athena over again."
"Funny, that's also her name," I countered.
"You hate Athena," Zeus reminded me.
"Yes, Pallas Athena," I told him. "Could I have wished she had another name? Rhea only knows how badly I wish for that."
Zeus narrowed his eyes at me and crossed his arms. "I want her. Don't stand in my way."
"She's not a toy," I said. "We've had this talk before. You might be Zeus, but that doesn't mean you can step on the rest of us."
"Watch me," he told me. "I'll ruin it for you, you just wait and see." He left me standing there, and I wanted to dash after him, but he went to his room, and I was apprehensive, and he was a cunning asshole. But would he do that?
I went back to Poe's room and slipped back into my own body and called Hades.
