Poseidon's POV

She fell asleep, curled into me, and I whispered to her to please don't go visit Poseidon again. The irony wasn't lost on me, but she didn't know that.

Yet.

She fled Tuesday morning before I was truly up. I mean, she did tell me she was leaving and thank you, but she had classes.

I didn't have one that morning, so I was in no hurry.

I watched her go and debated going home for a bit. I could call in sick. Yup, I called in sick.

I'd gone home the night before because of work.

I waited until Josh and Peter were gone, and then went to the beach. Now I'd transformed there, I had to go back. I wasn't as fluent as Hades, which was why I'd picked someone resembling me so much, but I still had to pick up on myself in the right places.

I went to my home and changed to the chiton, and I felt more at ease already.

I had my trident in my hand when I stalked to my office and sat down before my globe. First off, I had to check up on Triton, see that he hadn't made anything messier. And here I thought Atlantis was a cruel joke. This was... at least he'd given all of them a place to be, not Athena.

I could suppress sneering her name once in Poe's form, but here?

I had almost found Triton, when Zeus called me up.

"Yes?" I asked him, not really in the mood to talk to him. He was a pain in the ass, and he knew better than to piss Hades and I off, as we could make life terrible for him. The Underworld and the Sea combined? That's a lot of power, and Hades was fucked up when pissed off.

At least Persephone liked the political game in Olympia.

"So!" Zeus boomed, forgetting all about how to talk when on the globe. I turned down the volume, not wanting to hurt my ears.

"I'm waiting," I told him. he could be a nuisance.

"I need you to look over everything," he informed me.

"Why?" I asked him. It had happened before, and it usually involved him pissing off Hera to go on to some sort of fuck fest or other.

"There's this girl, and I need her!" he informed me.

"Do give me the details," I sighed and placed my chin in my hand.

"Wear modern clothes, you might even get laid, too," he informed me.

"The point," I reminded him.

"Okay, North America, California, what's the town? San Diego," he said. "Athena will never let me fuck her, but this one's name is Athena."

Everything inside me tingled. And in the wrong way.

"She'd going to college, a bit young, but if Hades can, then I can too!"

"No fucking way," I informed him.

"What?" he asked me, his face taking on that glacial quality I knew meant he'd fight for this. And he could not care less if he fucked me over in the process.

I smiled a tightlipped smile. "I said no," I told him. "She's mine."

"You wish, brother," he said and globed off.

I globed Hades, who picked up right away, Zagreus beside him. Zagreus is this half Persephone half Hades person, who, thankfully, took more after Hades in his personality than Persephone.

"Zeus wants Athena," I informed them.

Hades raised both brows. "I'm fairly sure Athena would tell him to go fuck himself," Hades said.

I frowned.

"Pallas Athena," Hades added.

"No, I'm talking about the girl," I said.

"Oh," Hades said.

"Not even Zeus can go to earth without consulting me," Zagreus muttered darkly.

"No, but sadly he can force you to do his bidding," Hades said, "to some extent."

Zagreus crossed his arms.

"Anyways, I can deal with that. I just need you to cover for me, or have Persephone do it, while I make sure he doesn't steal my girl."

"Since I haven't seen her, I suppose she's okay?" Hades asked.

I nodded. "She found her warmth, so."

"Good," Hades said.

I could see Zagreus' confused as fuck look, but Hades could inform him later.

"For how long do I need to cover for you?" Hades asked.

"I'll talk to Persephone," Zagreus said.

"Thank you," Hades told him, before looking back at me.

"Until I'm sure she either dumps me or tells him off." I said.

Hades nodded, and Zagreus left the call.

"Do you know if Triton has been the reason for any deaths?" I asked.

We got business settled, and there would be an excursion to my realm. Amphitrite would cover for me, and then that was settled.

I went back to that house and changed into Poe there, knowing I could then go back and forth at wish. I read whatever needed reading and praised myself glad this Poe dude did all the working during the summer and other holidays, so I wouldn't have to worry about that.

With that said, I needed to find Athena and see if she was okay.
