*Long chapter!*

I was showered and sat on my bed, doing my homework, preparing to head to the drama department. I was helping them take measurements for the costumes. It took a while to sow, we weren't there every day.

I closed my laptop, braided my hair and zipped up my hoodie, before I left the dorm with my bag.

I ate siting alone and smiled as Michelle walked by to get to another table. She took the last seat.

Was I lonely?

When I wasn't here, alone, every freaking time, no.

I finished eating, put away the dishes and walked to the drama department. It wasn't cold out, I was just cold.

I went inside and went backstage to the others who also sowed and sat down.

"Have you heard; they want us to make a dress where we have to put on the paillettes?"

I looked at Danielle next to me. "For real?" I asked.

She nodded eagerly. "That's like a two-man job in like a long time."

Danielle's the typical blonde who's-not-stupid person, studying English to teach in a high school. This was where we talked, exclusively. We didn't have a lot of overlaps, but I liked her.

"Figures," I said softly. "Who's going to wear it?"

"The lead character," she said with a smile. "They'll reveal the roles tonight. Well, in ten minutes. When we're all here."

"Cool," I said. They wanted to make a remake of a fairy tale, a story that was written last year. It was all about how this princess wasn't being saved by any prince, as the princes needed her to save them. It was well-written.

And, man, did I look forward to those costumes.

"Okay!" someone called from up on the stage. All the actors were gathered on stage. Well, actors and actresses. It was the same to me.

I leaned back in the seat and smiled to Danielle, who reached for my hand and bit her lip.

It was exciting. Only the seniors from last year were missing, and some of the others hadn't all been superb.

"Right," the dude on stage continued. "We are here today, as the cast is being revealed. Afterwards, there'll be taken measurements to costumes, and we'll start discussing the stage design. This play will roll in the spring, so we'll cram as much together before the winter break."

I gave Danielle's hand a squeeze, as the dude on stage – he wore cap, so we couldn't see his face in the spotlight – pulled out his phone. Someone came up onstage with a bunch of scripts.

"The princess!" he began.

The major roles went to seniors, as it was customary, if they were good enough. A few Junior's were skipped in favor of two Freshmen and three Sophomore's.

Tara had gotten a part, and she looked to be over the moon, though there was no one to congratulate her.

No, it wasn't a big part, but anything is a start!

"Danielle!" dude on stage called. "Bring it on, girl!"

Danielle dragged me to the stage. "Just a sec," I told her and went to Tara.
