Poe and I saw each other, and I had this feeling he wanted to show me he meant that he still wanted to hang out, even after we slept together. He also didn't want to invite me over, as Josh was a weirdo.
Speaking of Josh, he did apologize to Tara, and then hit on her again. She said no, and he then turned his attention to me, and he was there all the freaking time.
Unless Poe was there, that had him leave me alone.
It was exhausting!
It also meant I took extra shifts at the library and spend most days in the drama department working on that sequined dress. Someone also figured there should be beads hanging from the hem.
I mean, sure, why not?
I also made the ocean my key focus when having to hand in papers. Both the beauty of her, but also the dangers about her. And the damage we did, and the damage she did, and how we nurtured one another, and I sat in the car on the drive back home before Christmas.
And Sophia and Jonathan, and mom and dad, and it was just, it was good, and I passed the semester with only A's and a single B.
I was happy.
I drove with Sophia back down for the spring semester, and January was fucked, and the play was premiering in February, and Poe, thankfully, just left me alone.
He came to the show, though, and that was what truly mattered.
And Tara went to a party the last night, and Poe and I slept together in my tiny bed. Nothing happened, we just slept.
And I allowed him to sleep only in boxers, now he complained anything else was too warm.
Yes, do inset the eye-roll here.
Our schedules also didn't make it easy. He was off late when I didn't have work, and was off early when I had.
I was at the beach, that one day with degrees in the 70's, and it was amazing. I even had to wear sunglasses.
I was reading, so I wasn't just hanging out, but it was nice to be outside and enjoy the sound of the ocean and all.
On the other hand, it was terrifying how drawn I was to the ocean.
I refocused on my studies, and once I was done, I could go for a walk in the water, and just feel it lap over my feet.
I hid my stuff in my secret hiding spot – no, I hadn't brought a laptop, just books and my phone – and went to the water. I stood for a few moments until the water reached my feet.
It was cool, and I smiled at nothing. This, I'd missed this.
I'd been so busy, but I knew I was busy, and I couldn't go swimming in the middle of winter either. Not only would I be sick, Poe would also kill me for doing it.
I mean, he had found me so I wouldn't argue too much against it.
And it was too cold to go swimming, so I hadn't brought a bikini.
I took a few steps into the water and walked down the beach. Quite a few people were on the beach, but the weather was good, so it was understandable. It also belonged to the sounds of the ocean that little kids were running and playing.
