3rd person POV

Wild life had ended 2 weeks ago when Joel won. Winning a life game was never fun for the winners. Some, like Grian, Scar and Martyn, were buried in grief or went mad. Others such as Scott and Cleo weren't effected.

To say Lizzie was scared for her partner was an understatement. She was petrified. While she herself didn't know how it felt, she understood how it may effect him.

So here she was, on Christmas Eve, trying to relax. It was almost half eleven and Joel had gone to bed about an hour ago. Joel, who was normally the light of any room had lost that spark, being cold and closed off since they came back.

Lizzie sat in the dark, the only thing illuminating the room were the soft glow from the Christmas tree. She knew she should go to bed, after all, her brother and brother in law were coming over. But yet she couldn't bring herself to go up the stairs.

Buddy was sat next to her on the sofa as she stared at her wedding picture.

Within the soft brown frame sat a moment forever frozen in time of her and Joel. The brunette holding Lizzie who was in her long wedding dress. Joel looking just how she remembered.

Lizzie didn't even notice the small tears pricking at the corners of her eyes. However Buddy had. He moved towards the pink-haired female, pawing her with his small, fuzzy paws. The action helping calm down his crying owner.

Lizzie smiled through her tears. Petting the soft fur of her companion. Not noticing the time going by she slowly fell asleep to the purring of the content cat beside her.

When Joel woke up early the next morning he turned over to look at his wife. Only to find an empty space next to him.

Reaching over to grab his glasses he gets up quickly, checking the time to find its only seven. Panic slowly set in, Lizzie couldn't be awake at his time, could she? Joel's mind was racing as he ran down stairs.

Finding Merry still in the kitchen he let her out, this only worried him more as they normally let Merry out when they first come down.

He walks into the living room, praying to whatever gods that she's there.

The gods had seemed to answer his prayers as when he looked his wife was sat in the same spot he left her last night, the lights on the Christmas tree still give a gentle glow in the dark morning.

Her head layed back on the sofa as her chest rose and fell as she slept. Strands of her long pink hair lay over her face. A certain ball of fur lay in her lap.

That's when Joel saw it, a frame resting in his partner's hand, which had dropped to the soft pillows of the sofa in her sleep. The brunette made his way closer, quietly lifting the frame from her hand. It was only then that he realized what photo it was.

Their wedding photo.

Joel's eyes flickered between the two of them. Only being broken out his thoughts by Lizzie's phone ringing. He dashed to her phone when she stured slightly in her sleep. Joel quickly looked at the contact. 'Jim' Joel answered the phone and stepped out the room.

"Hello?" Joel sounded sceptical. "Oh Joel, how are you bud?" Lizzie's brother's voice echoed through the phone. "Yeah I'm good thanks, mate. You?" "Good thanks, are me and Scott still coming at ten or do you want later?" "No ten is fine" "alright just double checking, say hi to Liz for me" "will do." "Okay bye Joel" and with that the phone hung up. Joel subconsciously took a deep breath, walking back into the living room.

Buddy had since gotten up and was walking around. A small smile tugged at Joel's lips as he grabbed a blanket and the remote. He sat next to the pinkette and layed the blanket over the two of them. The smile soon bloomed on the brunette's face as his wife lent into the warmth the male provided.

Joel decided to put on a movie in the background, finding 'The Grinch' he presses play and leaned back, his arm going around Lizzie.

Joel soon heared the sound of a car parking and took a glimpse out the window, seeing blonde hair he knew who it was and turned back to watching 'A Christmas Carol'.

When Joel heard the key being turned in the door, he froze but quickly calmed when he heard the familiar Scottish accent. "Lizzie? Joel? We're here."

The voices soon turned into faces. A blonde haired male peaked through the doorway, his eyes landing on the sleeping pinkette and the brunette. A teal haired male followed after, already having the grey resident cat in his arms as Merry followed suit, jumping at the blonde's legs.

Joel stiffled a laugh as not to wake his wife. He reached over to the remote and paused the film. The two men sat on the other sofa, the cyanette already getting forced into give affection to Buddy. Merry jumping up next to the blonde.

Joel could help but laugh at the two. The harsh movement waking his wife.

Lizzie opened her eyes to a sight that could only be described as pure happiness to the pinkette. Her brother and his partner sat on the other sofa with both her pets and her husband, who has been cold for the past two weeks, laughing.

She looked up to see the smile she loves back and as wide as ever. She turned and wrapped her arms around the man she loves. When she looked up again she was met with Joel looking at her with a loving gaze.

In that moment, it felt as if time had stopped and the were back in that frozen moment of their wedding day.

It was only broken my a British chuckle and a Scottish shushing.  Joel looked up only to find the blonde looking like he was going to explode.

"Really Jim. You just had to ruin the moment." Joel scolded the blonde. Jimmy, who was now laughing, payed very little attention to Joel's words.

Joel huffed as he hugged his wife again. A small whisper was heard as Lizzie witnessed the cyanette whisper to her brother, who in turn went red. "SCOTT YOU CANNOT SAY THAT". To this the whole room when up in laughter.

-

The day went smoothly from that point on, Lizzie and Joel going to get ready for the day. Soon they were back down stairs, Joel and Scott in the kitchen preparing dinner as Lizzie and Jimmy sorted presents.

For Lizzie this Christmas is one she will never forget.
