Past Meets Present

I stood before the perplexed looks of Sam and Dean, as understanding filled His eyes. No vessel could fool me. In a show of desperation I fell forward and hugged him tightly in hopes that he would not disappear this time.
"Why are you here? How-how did you get through the warding? You know Sam and Dean?" I so desperately searched for answers in his icy blue eyes.
"Wait you two know each other?" Dean asked.
"He's the one- the one I told you about." I told Dean all too aware of the scrunched up look I was earning from Sam.
"He's the angel that saved you?" Dean questioned pointing to Him.
I nodded. "Then why the hell didn't you tell me it was Cas?"
"He never told me his name, just that he was an angel of the Lord."
"You knew each other for that long and you didn't even give her a name? Damn Cas I knew you weren't a people person, but that's awkward."
"It was a difficult circumstance." The angel replied in a slow pained voice.
"Uh guys? Would anyone like to fill me in?" Sam asked indignantly.
I looked at Dean whose eyes shared the same concern, Sam would be pissed that Dean knew something he didn't and that we had kept it from him.
The angel cleared his throat. "There are somethings I should tell you I suppose, Ilianna. I'm Castiel by the way." He spoke awkwardly.
"Well you did abandon me." I spoke gaining my usual standoffish demeanor. Hurt by the ones I love...no. I never loved anyone...by the ones I needed. I thought.
"I'm sorry I had to leave you, they needed my help." He said struggling with the situation. Although his face remained blank, I could tell that he was nervous, uncomfortable, uneasy; which was strange for an angel, but then again he did fail me when I needed him most.
"So why are you here now?" I asked, part of me hoping he knew I was here and wanted so desperately to make things right.
"To help with the mark. To do whatever I can." He said awkwardly. I felt uncomfortable now too, with Sam's confused eyes looking around for answers and Dean's intrigued and unbiased scowl watching the scene of this soap opera unfold with myself in the spotlight. I didn't want to think or let the appearance of 'Castiel' sink in. I walked away to let them finish their conversation, which would no doubt fall on my relationship to Castiel. I knew before long Sam would be caught up. I cleared my mind nailing up boards and setting up barricades in my mind to push back any thoughts. Instead, I found a case or at least a potential one.
"Looks like some demons are stirring things up in Boulder, Colorado." I said slapping down a stack of freshly printed newspaper articles. I crossed my arms and turned to Sam and Dean who were sitting across from each other at one of the library tables. Sam caught me off guard, standing up and grabbing me in a tight hug. He let go and looked at me with sad puppy eyes, making me hate the pity he was putting on me. There was no doubt in my mind he had been told all of the dirty details of my past. Who I was then is so very different than who I am now, the past seems like a completely different life; or it did until now when everything came back to meet each other.

To my surprise Dean immediately got up saying "Alright, lets check it out then.". I was somewhat giddy inside at the idea of killing a few demons and removing the focus from myself. A nine hour drive would be refreshing and killing a few demons would be even more so. I was ready to leave in record time when I realized Castiel was no longer in the bunker. Sam, Dean, and I loaded up the cars and headed towards Colorado. It was almost dark when we rolled into town, but we wasted no time. We stopped in an alley where no one would hear or see us. I pulled out the articles and we started to discuss the case.

"So there's been a bunch of crazy accidents; car accidents, suspicious suicides, sickness, and that's just the tip of the iceberg." I told them while pointing to the important details of each article.

"So what makes you think it's demonic?" Sam asked.

"Well besides the fact that the city is trying everything to solve their recent sulfur stink issue, call it hunch." I told them.
