We had been on a case, or so we thought. Leave it to Sam to pick a dud. After driving for God knows how long and poking around, it seemed whatever was going on had stopped perhaps the monster had moved on, regardless I was starving and had to take a leak. "Look" Sam said gesturing toward the Gas 'n Sip parking lot. He didn't need to point it out to me though, because I had already noticed it. A sweet ride, a classic, but not as nice as Baby of course. Slapping Sam lightly on the shoulder with the back of my palm "There's no way that chick is driving that car.."
"That's a little sexist don't you think, Dean?"
"Oh come on. I mean she probably doesn't know how to treat a car like that! It's probably a rental so she can go shopping and look cool with her friends"
" Do you really think there's a place to even shop around here?"
"Well why don't we find out...want to make a bet? I bet she couldn't even tell ya what engines in it." Sam rolled his eyes at this.
I pulled up next to the woman whose back was turned and leaned slightly out the window. "That yours?" I asked and flashed a grin. I must have caught her off guard because she froze then gazed down the side of the car. Her dark curly ponytail and black leather jacket were still turned toward me, "No, I stole it." She replied in a flat tone that I couldn't quite decipher. Before I knew it she was gone, heading down the road out of town.
"Hahaha smooth, Dean really smooth!"
I glared at Sam ,"Oh, shut up."
"Awe don't be grumpy just because your charm didn't work on her" Sam laughed.
" Oh come on Sam you have to admit that was weird as hell! She didn't even look at me."
"Just face it Dean, not every woman falls for 'the look'."
"That's not even what I'm talking about!"
"What are you saying Dean?" Sam questioned as we walked into the Gas 'n Sip.
"I'm saying we came to investigate a case and when we get hear zilch, nothin'. The case has gone cold. Then we run into some chick that won't look at me let alone make eye contact and she seems to be gettin' outta dodge in a hurry. That's what I'm saying."
"so you think she's the monster we're looking for?"
"I dunno. But I do know that she acted pretty suspiciously. I mean come on she could have at least turned around and flipped me the bird!"
"I don't know, Dean I think you're reading too much into it. I mean it's been awhile ya know? And neither one of us are feeling 100%..."
I handed the snacks I had gathered to Sam, "I gotta take a leak." I informed him as I walked towards the sign labeled 'restrooms'. I know I'm a little rusty, but something in my gut is telling me that there's more going on here, and it's not my full bladder.
I walked up to the counter where Sam was beginning to check out. "Some kinda foreign car convention goin on or sumthin?" the teenage cashier asked nodding towards baby.
" Seriously? You've got to be kidding me."
"Dean" Sam whispered scoldingly. "Uh no, no just passing through."
"Ah, well I thought you and your lady friend might've been apart of some kinda gang of car enthusiasts."
"Ah well we aren't but it does seem our friend took off without us. You by any chance know where she was heading?" Dean questioned the cashier in a mocking tone.
"Nah sorry she didn't say much. Your friend ain't much of a talker is she?"
" apparently not." Dean retorted with an annoyed smile. As we reached the door Dean turned and said "By the way it's a Chevy, not a foreign car ya dweeb."
"What is your problem, Dean?"
"He couldn't even tell the difference between an import and an American muscle car!" Dean replied defensively.
Sam sighed as he sat in the passenger seat. "What are you thinking? I can tell you've got something going around it your mind."
"Why don't we follow her, see what's going on just to he safe?"
"Can't we just go to a motel and find another case....She's probably already miles away from here."
"Well then we better catch up." Dean said as he cracked a sly smile and floored it.
