(Dean's POV)

After I delivered the final ultimatum, I couldn't believe my eyes.  This girl...this woman...her entire arrogant demeanor visibly changed.  Her steely eyes lost their look of defiance.  The events which followed shocked me even more.

Her stance changed, shoulders slumped, chin no longer level with the ground, her eyes lost their wild nature becoming far more timid, yet still holding mesmerizing power.

"Actually Sam, Dean, I do know who I'm messing with." She finally responded then dropped her head and cast her eyes to the ground.

The sound of both my brother's name and my own falling from her mouth sent me reeling.  After what seemed like hours of recovery, I was able to draw a breathe and ask "who are you, how do you know us?"

Sam remained quiet and still beside me as she said "I'm no one, I know of you...I...I know a lot of things."

"Are you one of Crowley's demons?" I asked with a raise of my eyebrow.

"No. I'm not a monster." And after a moment's pause she continued, "I know a lot of things..not just about the two of you. But it doesn't matter. I'm no one...Just do it."  She finished by meeting my eyes with her own.

By her look I understood what she was asking me to do. "Let me get this straight. You're not a monster, but you want me to shoot you?"

Her eyes came up to meet mine again, as she spoke a very soft and quiet, "Please".

I now knew what it was I recognized in her the first time I saw those icy blue orbs. It was me. I saw myself or at least the mirror image of being at the bottom.  I knew the broken and beaten look that she trapped so skillfully behind her eyes.  I knew deep in my bones, what she was feeling. I had been there, hell Sam and I both had been there plenty of times over.

Sam's POV

I watched the scene unfold.  I felt sorry for her, whoever she was. The way she had just pleaded for Dean to end her.  He was the one holding the gun after all.

I couldn't believe it, she's a hunter.  I was sure of it. We were hunting a hunter.  Granted she doesn't seem to be in much better shape than Dean or I.

I pulled Dean's arm down from its outstretched aim at her heart.  "Dean, we could use her. I mean neither one of us are feeling ourselves exactly and she could help us!"

"What makes you think she would be any help to us Sam? Look at her. You say 'we' aren't feeling well, I know what you mean.  I'm fine man, and what the hell is supposed to be wrong with you? We don't need her and by the looks of it she's worse off than the both of us ." Dean replied in a hushed voice.

"Listen to me Dean, you still have the mark, Cas is gone trying to get his grace back, he can't help us. We are down a man or uh well a person. We need help."

"Come on we've been doing fine Sam."

"Dean please, we've been hunting trying to get back into the game but as long as you've got that mark..."

"Stop it with the Damn mark thing, I told you I'm fine, Sammy. Don't worry about me."

"You're not fine, Dean! We can't keep doing this on our own.  You said you wanted to hunt fine. We've hunted. But we need to find away to get rid of that Mark, and help Cas find his grace! Or have you forgotten about that? And we don't know what Crowley and his demons are up to, I mean you aren't exactly his favorite person right now. The last sign of him was when he took the first blade and disappeared."

"Oh come on Sam!" Dean said exasperated. "Fine." Dean gave in with a sigh.

Turning back to the girl, I realized she had been watching us intently.  "Forget all of this ever happened.  I'm going to get in my car and go. Just for the love of God tell no one you saw me. Tell no one. Forget we ever had a run in. I will be gone and out of your hair. Just never speak of this ever. To anyone." She suddenly ordered with regained composure.

"Wait!" I said to her. "We want you to help us."

"No. I can't. I absolutely can not. I'm sorry."

With gruffness Dean said, "Listen, my brot- we think we could use your..assistance.  So you're going to help us."

"You don't get it I can't, I won't. I've worked far too hard at keeping myself unknown I will not let you two ruin that!"

"What do you mean?" I asked the girl as she slowly grew hysterical.

"No one knows who I am. No one. Hell you two don't even know who I am. Not a soul. Not a single being on earth or otherwise, even knows I exist. I can't jeopardize that."

"You're a hunter like us and we need you." I said.

"Look lady, we have seen your face. We know your car, your license plate. I bet a hundred bucks if Sam here was to look in your trunk he'd find guns, knives, machetes, etc.  The point is we are pretty sure your a hunter and we want you to help us. If you don't we will send every person, every monster, and every other being we can find after you. Is that clear?" At this I looked at Dean appalled.  No matter what he said there was something left in him, that Mark was still effecting him.

Suddenly Dean walked over to her car with intent.  Before I knew what happened she drew a gun from behind her and pointed it at me.

Dean's pov

I headed to her car to make a point, sure I would find the hunter necessities; guns, ammo, silver, iron, salt, machete, and whatever else.  Then suddenly I heard Sam call my name in a calm but panicked way. I stopped in my tracks and turned around.  They were face to face, but she held a gun aimed toward him.

"I don't want to hurt either of you, but ...I don't know...I can't...I can't let you ..." She grasped for words, clearly she was at the end of her rope.  At this point I was wondering exactly how stable she was.  She looked up at Sam then dropped her gun.
End of Dean pov

This was defeat. This was not surrendering. I was defeated. One look at Sam and I knew I wasn't this person.  I couldn't do it.  This is why I planned, calculated, and waited for a strike.  I was unable to do anything.  I was at a loss. "Fine." I said to them, "Fine.....I'm sorry..." And with that Dean stormed to Sam's side and I released the clip from my gun letting it hit the ground.  I removed the round from the chamber and stood defeated, with my head down.

This was defeat.
