Digging graves

The world I was born into and the world I made for myself can never be the same. Not even close. Being the daughter of a serial killer and running from the same fact for half of my life was so different from the wife of an business tycoon living her best life with family.

All thanks to my tyrant for never giving up on me. Though part of it is because of his obsession to control others, you won't see me complaining.

If not for Jonathan's persistence I will either be running away from my past or buried six feet under the ground. My bet is on the latter.

"Don't tell him that I'm here" I see Lan's cheeky smile before he fits himself under the couch.

I look around to see who is the "he" I should not be helping to about his whereabouts. A mini version of Aiden comes walking with his hands tucked in the pocket. No matter how many times I look into his beautiful face I will never come to terms with the resemblance.

I remember the first time I looked at Aiden, the first copy of his father. Since the day Eli was born, Jonathan took out every single childhood picture of his son to show how his grandson looks exactly the same.

Elsa and Jonathan become so obsessed to the point where they started recreating Aiden's picture with Eli. Jonathan and I are nuts jobs when it comes to being grandparents because we have a wall of fame of entire room for our grandchildren.

What are a bunch of kids achieving you ask me? Them simply existing is an achievement and blessing itself. Eli's wall of fame has all the pictures of himself looking like Aiden. Aiden and Eli recreating the ones of Aiden and his father.

I'm snapped out of my thoughts when Eli waves his hands infront of my face.

"Daydreaming again, Gran?" he asks with a teasing smile. Something that he got from his mother because sure as fuck neither Jonathan nor Aiden have a chill bone in their body.

"Just thinking about your childhood, honey" I palm his face.

"Speaking of childhood, where is the nuisance I'm forced to share space with since he was born?" he asks looking around.

"Mind saying the name?" I raise my eyebrows at him very well knowing whom he is talking about.

"Your second eldest grandchild" he lays his head on my shoulders.

"Ah, Lan! Weren't you two doing something together?" I brush his hair away from his foreahead.

"Yes we were digging a grave at backyard to bury some stuffs"

"I hope its not any of your siblings" I tell him seriously.

While I know Eli and Lan loves their siblings, they have the psycho streak that runs in the family which should be monitored.

"No Gran. It was related to them but not themselves" he tells me.

"Care to explain" I press his shoulders.

"We decided to bury some of their precious belongings and let them find. You know like treasure hunt, only the treasure is something of theirs" Eli grins at me.

"Go on. Why are you searching for Lan now?" I ask

"The devil tried to sneak in some of my belongings in another secret grave" he thins his lips.

I chuckle looking at his pissed off expression and he turns his grey eyes on me.

"Gran, why are you laughing? He thought he could fool me" he crosses his hands across his chest.

At ten years old Eli is the eldest granchild of the family and if I'm being honest with myself my favourite too. Don't get me wrong, I love all my grandchildren but Eli has got the special place in my heart.

It could be because he shares blood with my sister Alicia. It could be because he is the first granchild whom I got to raise as my own. Or it could simply be the face that he is the reason Aiden and I found a common ground to develop our relationship.

In the last decade, my nephew and I have come a long way. He no more despises me, which itself an acheivement if you ask me.

"But you caught him on the act and now he is on the run" I muse.

"Not for long" he smirks.

No ten year old should be mastering the art of smirking but my grandson does. The King genes do run deep. Eli breaks into run in the opposite direction in search of his cousin who is still hiding under the couch.

Lan gives me a kiss on the cheek before taking off to upstairs. Tiny arms wrap around the hem of my dress pulling my attention back.

Creigh stands before me with his lips thinned and cheeks puffed with annoyance. His other hand is tightly wrapped around his father's.

"Granny did you happen to see Eli and Lan?" his eyes narrows with each word.

To call him adorable will be an understatement. Elsa puts extra energy in dressing him up like a young model.

"No, honey. Why do you ask?"

"They were planning to hide my fish and chips. I'm about to hand them over to Daddy" he points his finger at his Dad.

If someone looked up "Daddy's boy" in dictionary then it will replaced with the name Creighton King. He turns to Aiden at every minor inconvenience.

I lift my head to see Aiden sighing in exhaustion. I can totally relate to him because imagine handling Eli, Lan and Creigh at same time.

It's like God has sent you two pure devils and a semi devil to manage for the rest of your life. It doesn't matter you are the Satan himself.

"I beleive they both are not together right now, Creigh" I give him half truth.

He pouts, rethinks and pulls his Dad down to say something in his ear. Aiden nods and I see Creigh moving upstairs.

"Well I'm about to go searching for your favourite grandchild. Wanna give me some pointers?" Aiden asks me.

"What makes you think that I might know?"

"It's Eli we are talking about. So it makes sense for you to know" he smirks.

My nephew loved shoving Eli in my face whenever he got chance. Basically I raised Eli half the time.

"He is searching for Lan because your nephew tried to trick him" I again give half the truth.

Hell will freeze over before I ditch any of my grandchildren. Aiden raises his brows at me but I remain quiet. He sighs and leaves in the same direction as his son went. It is going to be a circus once they all find each other and I'm here for it.

************************************************************************************************

I hope you all are doing well. Its been almost a month I guess since I last posted any one shots and its the longest I have ever went without doing so.

Life has been a crazy roller coaster ride and the main reason behind my lack of publishing.

I know people say their schedule gets messed up when they are not happy but let me tell you for me its quite opposite.

I have gotten into a happy relationship and I'm so invested in him to do anything else.

I'm doing my 9-5  job and I'm spending all my free time with him. I try to make time for my writing.

So if this one shot wasn't touching your expectation meter then I'm sorry for that. I tried my best.

Until next time. Bye.
