VAUGHN
The woods is filled with screams and wails of the students who were stupid enough to accept the invitation for the initiation. Honestly I wonder what goes their tiny brains when they decide to play games far out of their reach.
Looking around the forest I notice Jer taking a leisure walk behind a familiar looking silhouette. I saw Killian dragging a protesting Glyndon behind the bushes not long ago. Niko didn't even cross the first 50 meters from the start line.
I'm sure he is fucking his boyfriend across the first flat surface he came across. I sigh knowing how boring my friends have become. Their world is revolving around their partners and the whole point of this initiation is missed the moment they decided to invite their partners.
I look at people who are running around without any aim, pretending to be chased and letting out loud cries. I suppose they think the Heathens are chasing them because I knocked down at least twenty people on my way.
Gareth might also be doing his job somewhere so I do have a partner in hunting. I rotate the chain that is draped around my hands above my head. My eyes scan the woods and I see a tall figure wearing designer clothes and high heels running around. No, not running.
Her legs doesn't seem to be taking long strides like the others, neither is her posture looking hurried. She is fucking jogging in the middle of a battle ground looking environment. The audacity of this women to treat our ritual like a casual morning walk.
And what kind of nut job go for running in high heels? My eyes track her every movement and my legs start walking in her direction without me realizing. The closer I go to her the more my irritation flare. She is wearing baby blue dress that stops mid thigh and a greyish blue high heels and her hair is held on top in ponytail.
People who accidentally comes near me went scattering looking at my mask. I don't bother looking at them because the ridiculous woman has gained my attention. I follow her around without any noise and realize she doesn't make any noise either. Her body language tells me that she is quite good at sneaking around.
She walks leisurely even without noticing that someone is behind her. I direct the chain to her waist attempting to capture her but she jumps at the right time avoiding it. She turns around and all I see is her icy blue eyes shining in the dark. The rest of her face is covered behind a black scarf. I tilt my head taking in her body from head to toe.
No one has any business hiding their face here so why is she bothering with the scarf?
Also she looks familiar or at least whatever I could see of her looks familiar. I close the gap between and raise my hand to bring her scarf down but she sprints into a run. I look at her running like she is competing for championship. For all her causal jogging she sure as fuck can run like an athlete.
Looking at her running away from me makes me want to hunt her down. So I take after her hoping to teach her a lesson. She keeps looking back at me but her speed doesn't falter. The girl is too cunning because she made it look like she is running at her top speed whereas she actually races more before taking a turn.
She vanishes right before my eyes into the dark. I look around searching for her with no luck. I kick my feet in frustration when I feel something in my shoes. I bend down to see the same black scarf lying in the ground. I pick it up and drape it around my hand before running in the other direction searching for her.
After forty minutes I still couldn't find her and I'm beyond pissed. Dad would call me useless in ten different languages if he comes to know I let someone slip through my fingers. Still keeping her scarf close to me I walk towards the room where the winners would be sitting. I see more than twenty people sitting inside, thanks to my friends who were only interested in fucking like rabbits.
