No matter how much I rake my brain I can't come up with more than few instances when I felt shocked. Not when one waste of space stabbed me nor when the mafia princess pulled trigger on my baby cousin landing him in hospital.

It takes a fucking lot to surprise me, Grandpa Jonathan always told us to expect the worst so nothing can surprises us. As far as advices could go, that is the best one. My mind is in shambles ever since I curiously looked into my Dad's pre-university era.  I had a bunch of WTF moments knowing about young Levi King. 

I had to pull lot of strings because Grandpa Jonathan had pretty much buried the past under good ten feet off the ground. Its physically impossible for a King to not rise up to any challenge, especially to the one issued by another King. I have been meaning to find out ever since Bran accidentally mentioned about Dad burning down the mansion.

While my focus was entirely on mansion incident, I came across something that piqued my interest. Someone had gotten into an accident near the mansion on the same day of fire. My heart missed a beat when I saw the name. Astrid Clifford. For the record none of us were aware that Mum was ever caught in an accident.

What are the odds Mum's accident happened near the mansion? I knew Mum was not with Dad during that time. They got together during final year of high school.  Also, if they were together there is no way Dad would be unhinged enough to create arson. That man worships the floor Mum walks on and let's say she doesn't appreciate setting fire to anything. A very kind soul.

So, if they weren't together then what was she doing there?

No amount of digging worked so I decided to pay my maternal grandfather a visit hoping he will give me any insights. I was about to knock his office door when I heard a very familiar voice that has no business being here.

"Admit you were wrong about him, Clifford"

"He was an arrogant punk"

"He is more responsible and sensible businessman now. A lot of young guys still think of him as their football role model. "

"So, you admit that my daughter had good influence on your insolent nephew"

"He was born for greater things. All King Men are"

"Damn your arrogance, Jonathan. You have fed that into my Grandson too"

"Comes with the King name I am afraid"

"I should have killed your nephew when I caught him in bed with my daughter"

Did Grandpa Henry say he caught Mum and Dad in bed together?

I cant imagine Mum getting caught like that. I have enough hard time thinking Dad as wild young man.

"Trust me when I say nothing would have kept Lev away from your daughter. I fucking tried"

"Thank the God or Satan whatever you worship that my daughter even looked at him"

"You thank the gods I didn't sue you for my Brother's accident"

"For goodness sake, I lost Jasmine too and it wasn't her fault your Brother was stoned"

"Having crazy murderer as wife was your fault"

"And I put her behind the bars. Didn't I?"

Crazy murderer who? I thought Grandpa Henry's wife had natural death.

Is that why Mum and Aunt Nicole weren't on speaking terms when we were very young?

Do I even know my family?
