Life couldn't be better. For the first time in years, my life couldn't be better than it is now.
From the bond I'm building with the kids, to the love I'm sharing with the most beautiful woman in the world, life couldn't be better even if I was to sculpt it with my own hands.
Except the food, that could be better.
"Eat your pancakes, sweetheart."I say to Princess, pointing with my knife at the cut pieces on her plate.
She winces, whispering."That's code for 'hide them in the napkin' right?"I nod.
Usually, I hate people that waste food and nit pick it, but Dove and Nasius's food is an exception, since it could be equivalent to rat poison.
I force myself to swallow the bitter piece of egg in my mouth when my phone dings with a message.
Putting my knife and fork down, I pull my phone out of my pocket and read the name on the notification.
Liam.
My jaw clenches and I look at Nasius, catching him already staring at me with a serious look on his face.
We give each other a subtle nod and stand up.
"You guys finish eating, we'll be right back."Nasius says, shooting Dove a serious look.
He follows me out of the kitchen and we rush into the office upstairs, my body numbing from all the rage piling up.
As soon as we walk inside, he shuts the door closed and looks at my phone.
"Who is it?"
"Our deranged brother."I reply coldly, gripping my phone in my hand.
"What does he want?"
I sigh."I didn't open the message yet."
"Do it, we need to get him off our backs as soon as we can."
"This wouldn't have happened if you just let me shoot him when I had the chance."I mumble and unlock my phone, clicking on his notification.
Tick, tock, tick tock.
Tick, tock, tick, tock.
tick, tock, tick, tock...
As if someone took the floor beneath my feet, I stumble back. My stomach ties in knots as my eyes look on Adelaine's teary ones.
His hand rests around her throat as he smiles brightly at the camera, the look on his face showing nothing but pure insanity and sadism.
I feel my heart being ripped out of my chest and crushed into pieces as I take in the fear on her face, the desperation in her gaze-the same desperation she had when I left her.
