                                                                                       Adelaine

Liam walked out of the room twenty minutes ago and hasn't came back since. I hear no noises, no signs of anyone but me being in this abandoned house, I don't know if I should be relieved or terrified of it.
It's good that no one, not even some junkie can find me here, but then again, if a junkie can't that means the house is built far deep inside a creepy forest, or an abandoned town.

Scratch that, I'm terrified.

I look out the broken window, feeling a surge of dizziness overcome me when I look down. It's pretty high. I'm about three stories up from the ground with trees surrounding the entire area, not a sight of any street lights or roads.

Where the hell did he bring me?

Sighing, I rub my bruised arm, leaning against the wall and noticing something shiny in the corner of my eye, on the same spot I woke up sleeping on.
I turn and hope swells in my chest as I realize what it is.

My phone. I put it in my pocket when I walked out of the house this morning.

I smile and rush towards it, grabbing it and hiding in the corner of the room, my whole body trembling from adrenaline.

I turn it on and check the signal. It's weak but It's worth to take a shoot.

Pressing the contacts icon, I click on Kingston's name, my hands shaking as my eyes go back and forth from the phone to the door.

I press the call button and bring the phone to my ear, barely hearing the ringing through the harsh thumps of my heart.

Please pick up, please pick up, please pick up-

"Adelaine?"His voice fills the silence, and I sign in relief, tears stinging my eyes. The strenght that kept me on my feet this whole time disappearing at the sound of his deep voice.

"Adelaine, baby, are you okay? I'm losing my mind here, please tell me he didn't hurt you."He says, pleading and laced with concern.

"He didn't. He's not here right now, he went downstairs."

"Tell me where you are and I'm coming, do you recognize the surroundings?"

"No, It's a forest, we're in an abandoned house in the middle of nowhere."I whisper and walk to the window.

"Describe the-p-place and stay-o-n the line."

"No, you're cutting off."Tears fill my eyes and I choke on my words."Please stay on the line, I want to go back home, I-I'm scared and freezing here."

"Stay on the line and hide your phone, put it where there's the most signal and turn your location on. Nasius will track it and I'll be right there, okay, baby?"

"Please hurry. He has completely lost his mind, I'm scared."

"It's okay---you're my wife, remember? There's no---you should be scared---abo---"

The line goes dead.

"Damnit!"

I shove the phone in my shirt, securing it with my bra strap before grabbing a dusty crowbar  that caught the corner of my eye.

My hand wraps around the metal tightly, stomach twisting in anxiety.

Okay, just get out and make a run for it. Nasius and Kingston will track the location---they'll find me before Liam does anything.

I need to get out of here regardless.

I tiptoe my way to the door, opening it slowly.
It creaks lightly and I wince, sucking a deep breath in.

Couldn't he have picked something more classy to trap me in. cliché follower.

The second I step into the dark hallway, chills travel up my back.
One small lightbulb hangs in the right corner, dust flying underneath the dark yellow rays.

My feet move before quickly, passing through the hall then the spacious room on the very end
Three sets of doors greet me when I rush in, two of them without knobs, the last one wrecked in the middle---missing a few wood panels.

It looks like someone already tried escaping by throwing themselves on it. It's my only way out.

My fingers reach to grab the knob before a voice shouts behind me.

"Don't you dare, Adelaine!"

Liam.

A gasp escapes my throat, the crowbar nearly slipping out of my hold.
Without turning around, I pull the door open and sprint out, my breathing loud and rigid.

Down the yet another creepy hallway with smashed windows.

Through the corridor.

Then down the dusty brown staircase.

"There's nowhere to run, Adelaine. Give it up!"He yells behind me, his heavy footsteps following.

"GO TO HELL."I scream back, my voice coming out as choked.

A wave of dizziness washes over me, vision blurring from all the shallow breaths when I stumble over the raised floorboard, catching myself before falling onto the ground.

Swallowing hard, I catch a glimpse of a large glass door across the room, a padlock hanging around the lock.
On the other side, several branches sway in the dark night, and I let out a sigh of relief.

Thank God.

Quickening my pace, I throw the crowbar behind my shoulder, my eyes focused on the lock.

I raise the crowbar and suddenly---It stops, pausing mid air.

Something warm brushes the back of my neck, making my hairs rise up."I told you there's nowhere to go, didn't I?"
