Lost and Insecure

Chapter 7

"You ready?" David asked as he parked the car in the parking lot of the mall. "Yep," I replied with a smile, unbuckling my seat belt. "Let's go then," he said getting out of the car and opening my door for me. "Thanks," I say taking his hand. He walked me inside and a rush of warm air surrounded me.
"Where do you want to go first?" David asked. "I don't know," I replied, "this is all new to me." "Let's just go to all the stores," David said starting to head for the nearest clothing store. I followed him.
"David, this store looks expensive," I said. "That's alright, I had a whole savings account just so when I found my mate so I could spoil her with anything she wanted, and you happen to be her so get whatever you want." David replied. "Really?" I ask. "Yeah," David grinned.
"Thank you." I said hugging him. "Don't mention it," he replied kissing my cheek.
We walked over to where my sizes were and I started looking at the shirts. I found a lacy white one that was short sleeved and was long in the back.
"Do you like that one?" David asked, I nodded. "Go try it on," he said. "Where are the fitting rooms?" I ask. "Right over there," David replied pointing to a sign that read, 'fitting rooms'.
David followed me over and stood outside the door while I tried on the shirt. I walked out to show him. "Sofia you look gorgeous," he said. "thanks," I reply, blushing.
"You want to go pick out more?" David asked. "Sure," I replied. "Get as much as you want," he said. I picked out a few more outfits before we left that store.
We wandered into a shoe store and I looked at the different colored sneakers. "Do you have any sneakers?" David asked. "Well, I did but the soles sort of fell off," I replied. "Pick any pair you like," he said smiling. I smiled and looked in the next isle for a pair of my taste.
A purple pair jumped at me from far down the aisle. I quickened my pace and went to the purple beauties that were calling my name. They were some exotic sports brand I'd never even heard of before. The soles were black along with the laces, and they were sturdy enough to last for years.
"I take it you like those," David said finally catching up to me. "I love them," I said still in wonder. "We'll get those then," David smiled. "thank you!" I said excitedly, hugging him. "Anything for you Sofia," he replied.
We found a pair in my size and paid at the counter. "Are you hungry?" he asked. "Not yet, unless you are, then we could get something," I reply. "I think we could hit a few stores first," he said. "So, where to next?" I ask. "Do you want to get your hair done?" he asked glancing at the upcoming salon in front of us. "I don't know, I've never gotten my hair done before." I replied. "well, let's go in and see what they can do," David said.
"Hello," a stylist behind the counter said. "Hi," David said. "What can I help you with today?'' she asked. David pulled me in front of him and said, " she needs to get her hair done."
The stylist nodded and pulled me over to a chair. "Do you know what you want done with it?" she asked. I looked at David. "Do you want to get a haircut or dye it?" he asked me. "I don't want it cut a lot." I replied. "that's all right, you can just get a trim," he smiled. "okay, I'll get a trim then," I said. The stylist nodded and put a cloak over my shoulders.
Twenty minutes later my hair was trimmed and David and I went back into the mall. "Now are you hungry?'' he asked. "Yeah, I'm hungry now." I said. "Alright, let's go to the food court." he smiled taking my hand.
We walked to the food court. he led me to a place called Pete's Burgers and he ordered us some food. We sat at a nearby table and waited for our number to be called.
"So, how's your day been so far?" he asked. "This has been one of the best days of my life," I replied with a smile. "I'm glad," he said. I smiled and pushed my hair behind my ear. Our number was called and David got up to get our food.
He returned with the tray and sat down. We ate in silence until we were full. "Ready for more shopping?" He asked. I nodded. He put our tray away and took my hand. We walked through several stores, occasionally stopping to get an item of clothing. We eventually went through the whole mall.

"So where to next?" I ask. "We are going to a home supply store." David replied taking my hand. " Why are we going there?" I ask. "I'm going to get some supplies and make your living quarters nicer to live in." David said. "David, you don't have to," I said as we walked out the sliding doors. " I want to, I don't like seeing you live in those conditions, you don't even have running water." He said as we arrived at his Jeep. He opened the door for me and I got inside. He shut the door and walked around to the driver's side and got in.

I buckled my seat belt and so did David. He started the car and grabbed my hand. He drove a few blocks and pulled into a large home supply store. We walked inside. "Let's see here, you need some heat, running water, electricity, new carpet for the bedroom, and you can pick a color for your walls." he said. "David I don't need new carpet or freshly painted walls." I sighed. "Sweetheart, I know. I want you to feel comfortable and at home when I can't be there." David said. I sighed again, " I guess you're right, it doesn't really feel like home the way it is now." He smiled and kissed my cheek.

We wandered around the store for a while grabbing tools that could be useful. I picked out purple paint for the walls and David found matching carpet. Once we had all the supplies we needed David paid and loaded the car. He got in and started it. "David, that was really expensive." I said quietly. He took my hand in one of his and lifted my chin with his other, he looked me in the eyes softly and spoke gently. "Sofia, you are worth every penny and more, you are priceless and I'm the luckiest man alive to have you. I will spoil you till the end of my days and I will never stop loving you." he said. He wrapped me in his arms, emotions overwhelmed me and I couldn't stop the tears from coming. "No one has ever cared about me like this before, I haven't had a friend for so long. From the moment we met you've been nothing but kind and caring. Please don't leave me like everyone else." I cried into his shoulder.

He rubbed my back with gentle hands. After I had calmed down for a minute he stopped hugging me and wiped my eyes. He looked at me with the softest gaze I'd ever seen. "Sofia, I promise I will never leave you. I will be by your side always. You won't have to worry about being alone ever again." he said. He kissed me softly. When the kiss broke he buckled up, " Let's get you home," he smiled. I fastened my seat belt as the jeep started moving.

He drove back to my cabin and parked it close by. He got out and opened my door, he took my hand and helped me out. We walked inside. He picked me up and put me on the counter then he took off my boots. He took off his own shoes and carried me to my room. He set me down on my bed then sat down next to me and kissed my cheek. Standing back up he went to the other side of the bed and pulled back the covers.

He picked me up and tucked me in, then he climbed in next to me and wrapped his arms around me. "Goodnight Sofia, I love you." He said kissing my forehead. "I love you too," I said snuggling into his chest.
