Alison's POV
When I regain conciousness, everything is hushed. I feel refreshed, but still faintly drowsy, although I have little trouble opening my eyes. When I do, I want to shut them again.
A large group of people stare at me; some with shock or surprise, others with sympathy and worry, and some with hatred. Those gazes make me flinch and bury myself into the cot, looking for any type of protection.
There's never a safe place.
Then an older woman, not a day over 45, steps up and ushers everyone out of the cold room. She hands me a blanket and a cup of tea and sits in a chair across from me but doesn't speak.
I sniff the tea, loving the way it smells and the way the steam feels, before taking a big gulp. Unlike the other people that were here earlier, this woman holds a blank stare, emotions briefly flashing through her eyes, but not long enough for me to detect.
After a while I set my cup down and clear my throat. "W-Where am I?" I ask, cursing myself for the quiver in my voice.
" You are safe." She gives me a pained smile which makes me second guess her previous words. "No one will hurt you here, but there is much for you to learn."
After asking for more information and receiving none, I give up and step into the bathroom she pointed me towards, deadset on having a hot shower. She tells me that I will be brought clothes in as few words as possible and closes the door on her way out.
I quickly lock it, undress, and enjoy my shower. After I fully smell of pomegranates and violets, I crack open the door and snatched the leggings and oversized shirt from outside the door.
When I'm fully dressed I head out of the bathroom, timidly and flinching away from everyone that walks past me. They all ignore me, almost like they're scared of me.
Weaving my way through the maze of hallways, I end up getting lost, so I go back in the direction of the only place I know, we'll I hope I'm going the right way.
I squeal I'm delight as I find the hospital. Pushing open the doors, I hope to find the woman from earlier but the room is empty except for one bed.
A large man lies in it. He's attached to several wires and he seems to be unconcious, although his eyes flicker beneath his eyelids every now and then.
Something in my body screams for me to get closer, so I step up to the end of his bed. He barely fits on it, even though it's larger than most hospital beds already.
Dark stubble lines his sharp jaw and his hair is in a messy mop on the top of his head. He's attractive and muscular and memorizing. I squint my eyes at him, and then he wakes up.
He looks at me, but his eyes are glassy like he can't actually see. But as soon as he opened his eyes, I knew it was the man from earlier.
"Hello, princess." He smirks and reaches his hand out to me. My breath catches in my throat and I stumble back, tripping over a cart, and cutting myself open with a scapel. He's by my side in an instant, gently holding my hand. His fingers feel along the cut and now I know my suspicions are true.
"Y-You're blind..?" He freezes and looks away, like I've caught him in a moment of weakens. He turns away from me and searches through the hospital supplies I scattered all over the floor. He finds what he was looking for and wraps my hand in gauze.
"My lack of sense suddenly causes you to trust me?" He drops my hand and I back away again, almost tripping on the same cart before scampering from the room.
