Chapter 17: Doubts

Melissa

I woke up at 5am, since my classes start at 7. Yeah, it takes me that long to prepare.

After showering, I got dressed and fixed my things. Then, I went downstairs.

"Good morning," They greet.

"Morning. Um, have you guys seen Ross?" I ask.

"Over here," Ross waves his hand.

"Oh," I chuckle.

"You ready?" He says.

I nod, and he takes something from his pocket, probably the car keys. Then, we say goodbye and make it outside.

"You sure about this?" I ask.

"Don't worry, I'll just drop you off. No one will notice." He says.

So, he begins driving. After thirty to forty minutes, we arrive.

"Thanks for the ride," I say as I take my seatbelt off.

"Have fun." He waves goodbye.

That was my cue to get off the car. But as I opened the door, people were already staring. Probably curious about who's in it. Unfortunately, they see Ross through the door of the car and takes their phones out. Before I knew it, Ross started driving away to avoid the girls. That leaves all the attention, to me.

"Leave me alone!" I say, annoyed.

All these girls followed me around, asking information about Ross. And it's already dismisal! But they wouldn't let me leave.

"Just tell us!!" The one with the dark brown hair says.

"That wasn't Ross Lynch. He just looks like him!" I lied.

But they're not kids to be fooled. Before they could talk again, I ran away, escaping them.

I ran and I think I'm far away already. Suddenly, I bump into a guy.

"Watch your—" I pause, after seeing who it was.

"What? Running again?" Matt says.

"Well... yeah."

Then, he was about to walk away, but I stopped him.

"Can we talk?" I say, a bit shy.

"About what?"

"I know you're upset. Don't you want to talk about it, I mean we're in the same band—"

"If you really care about our band, you'll help us promote it. Make it familliar to people." Matt says

"Okay, I- I will." I asure him.

"I'll go ahead." Matt walks away.

What could I do to promote our band? Hmm.... I am friends with R5 aren't I?

As soon as an idea entered my mind, I hurridly get a cab and ride home.

"Ross? Ross?" I call out as soon as I enter the house.

Alyssa runs down the stairs. "He's not here, he went to the Teen Beach 2 photo shoot," She says.

"Oh.." I trail off.

"Why?" She questioned.

"I was about to tell him something but—"

"I know the venue, come on," She drags me out of the house.

"No, I'll just wait for him," I protest.

"We're going." She insisted.

So, she drives. After about half an hour, we make it.

Alyssa aproaches the receptionist. After a few words, they let us in. I scanned the place, searching for Ross.

"There he is," Alyssa points at him. He was infront of the camera, with Maia.

Then, the director says something (I didn't catch it) and then, Ross and Maia move closer... and closer.... and kiss.

I gasp, making Alyssa startle.

"Melissa, it's just acting." Alyssa calms me down.

I nod, trying to convince myself as well. It's just work. Work, Melissa.

"That's it for today," The director says aloud.

Then, Ross goes straight to his dressing room. Alyssa and I sat down while waiting.

"Melissa, I'll go to the restroom for a second. Is it okay?" Alyssa says as she stands up.

I nod, and then I was left alone on the sofa.

"Hi," Someone from behind says.

I almost startled when I realized that it was Maia.

"H-Hello, how are you?" I stood up.

"Well, busy I guess. And you?" She smiles.

"Um, college life. I'm just waiting for Ross though," I say.

"Aw how sweet. You're really lucky to have him." She says as she looks on the ground. "And him to have you too of course," She adds.

"Oh, thanks." I say.

"You're here," Ross suddenly chimes in.

He gives me an embrace as soon as he got near.

"Yeah." I say.

Then, Alyssa arrives.

"Why are you guys here?" Ross asks.

"Melissa needed to tell you something." Alyssa says.

"I'll tell you on the way," I chime in.

"I also have something to tell you too." Ross replies.

I nod, and then we say goodbye to Maia and the cast. We make it to the parking lot when Alyssa stopped walking.

"Guys, I have to go somewhere." She says while holding her phone. "You guys go ahead." She adds.

"Are you sure?" Ross says as he opens the door of his car.

"Yeah. Bye!" Alyssa walks away, almost running.

Ross shrugs, and then we enter the car.

"So, what is it?" Ross says as he starts to drive.

"Well, um..." I trailed off. "I just wanted to tell you that I'll be focusing on our band for now. No biggy, I just wanted you to know." I say.

"Oh. That's fine with me." Ross quickly says.

"So, what were you gonna say?" I ask.

"Well, we had a meeting and our director told us that we'll be staying at a beach resort for a week. I wouldn't be home for a week, since the venue's far away." Ross' voice suddenly became sad.

"I understand Ross. It's your job, and it's totally fine with me too. But I will miss you." I try to cheer him up.

"Don't worry, I'll call every now and then." Then, Ross gives me a kiss on the forehead

Then, we make it home in no time.
