Bang! Bang! Bang!

The ear piercing sounds of gunshots echoed out over the desolate city. The heavy foot falls of small feet sprinting down the dusty, abandoned roads, further added to the growing chaos. Nonhuman gurgles groaned out of shriveled up throats, rickety, decayed bones lurching into motion. More gunshots echoed out as the decayed civilians continued their march.

A harsh curse escaped the mouth of a blue haired man, he was low on ammo and there was still a lot of ground to cover before reaching the car. He pushed up his pink tinted glasses, pulling out his hidden knives from his boots.

"Over here ya bunch of dead weights!" A voice called out. The commotion drew the attention of the deceased. The mass began to lumber after the shouting individual instead of their original target. It gave the blue haired man the time he needed to run over to the car. He picked up the two supply bags and made a run for it, not at all concerned about the other person causing the distraction.

The blue haired man reached the car, it was a weathered dark gray truck. He secured the supplies in the bed of the truck and started up the vehicle, getting ready to leave. However something out of the corner of his eye made him hesitate.

He saw three people, living people struggling to get away from a small group of crawling corpses. He didn't understand why he was hesitating, they weren't his problem, why should he care what happens to them? Looking back at the three people, they seemed young. A brief flash of three siblings, a memory, further plagued the blue haired man's mind.

One of the undead pounced onto one of the kids, it snapped and growled at the boy, trying to bite him. The other two tried to help but got cornered by the other brain-dead walkers. Suddenly the crawler on top of the red haired boy fell over, no longer moving. Loud gunshots echoed close by as the other undead all returned to the dead. The kids looked confused, as a dark Gray truck pulled up with a blue haired stranger in it.

"If you don't feel like dying then get in, now!" He barked at them. The kids, having no better option, all scrambled inside the truck with the strange man.

"H-hey... thanks for saving us Mr. uhm?" One of the kids said, hesitating because their savior had no name. The blue haired man sighed tiredly, but he responded bluntly.

"December..."

"Deceeemmmbbbeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrr..."

"Dadcember!"

December woke with a grunt, being startled awake from the memory by a ginger kid with glasses hovering over his face.

"The hell do you want Daryl?" He asked irritably.

"Told you waking him like that would be a bad idea idiot." The red haired boy remarked.

"Naaaaaahhhhhh! And I'm not an idiot Finn! Anyways, I wanted to wake you so we could all eat together. Finn is just about done cooking." Daryl responds.

"Fine," December says, sitting up. He looks around the small campground, noticing a missing child. "Where's Sage?"

"Hmm? Oh she said she wanted to be on look out while you were resting." Finn answered as if he wasn't concerned at all.

"I'll go get her, Daryl, you set the table." December said, as much as he didn't want to admit it, he really had grown into the parental role for these three kids. Who would've thought that rescuing these three kids 4 years ago would lead to him gaining a new family.

December stepped outside of the perimeter that they had set up for their campsite. He knew exactly where the strong-headed, independent red haired female was.

December walked a little ways over to an old, dried up willow tree. He spotted the young girl up in the tree, someone else dangling by their legs on a close-by branch, yapping away. The girl was humming a song, an old tune he once heard in a game. She hummed it in a soft, sweet voice to help her ignore the other person's obnoxious chatter. Even in the dimming light he could clearly make out both of them. The guy with her could almost be mistaken for December, however he was much paler and acted completely different, too childish and immature. December turned his attention back to the tom-boyish redhead, calling out to her.

"Oi Sage, Finn finished dinner, get down here!" December called up to the girl.

"Coming!" She hollered, climbing down the tree swiftly. The other person in the tree looked over at December.

"Ay ay ay, what about me? No food for me Dexter?" He pouted.

"No, I have stuff for you too, got some brains from a cemetery yesterday on my run. You know I wouldn't forget your subsistence Tobi, don't want you going berserk on us."

"Yipppeeeeee!" Tobi practically shouted, flipping off the tree branch and landing with a thud. He walked back to the campsite with December and Sage. This area didn't have too many dangers for now, but December knew that nothing lasts forever. The sooner they could find a better, more secure area, the better. He wasn't about to lose his family, never again.
