"You think those two will be ok at camp?" Sage asks, looking back the way they had come.

"They'll be fiiiiiiiinnnnneeeee." Daryl responded nonchalantly.

"Oi, you two, keep up. Either keep an eye out for the undead or help me find supplies." December scolded, coming out of a broken window from the collapsed building.

"Heh... yes Daaaaaad." Sage replied, drawing out the word 'dad' in a sarcastic tone.

"Watch the sass, or I'll send you back to camp to deal with Finn and Tobi." December said in his normal flat voice. Sage shuddered at the idea of being stuck with those two. Daryl snickered at her and the three moved on to a different part of the city.

December stayed on point, guiding the way through the dead streets and past the lumbering dead. Daryl stood behind December, mainly just keeping up. Sage stayed in the back, making sure Daryl didn't get left behind while lost in his head.

They wandered through various buildings, broken apartments, crumbling office's, even a ransacked police department. They couldn't find much, almost everything was looted, broken or moldy. December was starting to get paranoid, they had been out for three hours now with no luck of finding supplies and hardly any undead. Usually hordes of undead roamed about the desolate streets of the city, but today? Hardly a maggot in sight. It was starting to get concerning.

Sage and Daryl were a few paces ahead, arguing over some stupid fact Daryl decided to say. December wasn't paying too much attention to their squabbling. He was standing atop a small pile of concrete that was piled up on the road, scanning their surroundings. Off in the distance he noticed a faint rising of smoke, he couldn't make out what it was from where he stood. So he jumped down from the rubble and climbed part way up some vines that had crept up a destroyed building. He squinted his eyes trying to get a better view, but it was still too far away to get a good idea. December was so focused on trying to figure out what could have caused the smoke, that he didn't realize something was reaching for him.

"DECEMBER!" Sage shouted loudly.

Startled by her shout, December turned to look back and see what caused her to scream, only to end up face to face with an undead. December loses his grip on the vine, nearly falling, but the undead grabs ahold of the older male. December struggles against its grip but the undead is unfazed and tries bringing the flailing male closer.

Sage and Daryl were staring in shock and horror as their father figure was getting dragged towards the gargling jaws of death. Sage snapped out of her shock first, running towards where December was struggling against the undead. She pulled out her knife, calling out to December and tossing it up to him. December caught the blade and drove through the corpse's eye, plunging the knife deep enough to stab its rotting brain. The undead freak went limp, returning to its natural corpse state, dropping December.

The blue haired individual dropped to the ground with a thud, adjusting his shirt and dusting off where the filthy undead had touched him. Sage walked over to him, relief and concern obvious on her face. December looked at the knife he was still holding tightly, then backed at the red head. He wiped the blood off the blade then handed the knife back to her with a nod.

"Quick reaction, good job Sage." December said simply. The praise made Sage's chest swell with pride and joy. Daryl finally jogged over to them.

"Where'd that thing even come from?" He asked, looking up to the ledge the now dead, undead was hanging over.

"Its the city, those things are everywhere, it's why we stay vigilant." Sage answered simply, yet her voice carried a matter-of-factly undertone. December nodded to what Sage had said, but he was staring off into the distance. The smoke he had seen earlier had faded away. Whatever it was, he hoped it wasn't a bad sign.
