They say, after all, he is your father.
Have they ever thought to bother?

When he lets her stray in the winter’s chill, freezing with fear,
Conversely,
She might have admired the blowing breeze,
While hugging him like a winter bear.

When he let her scream her heart out
In her own scattered world, no way out,
Conversely,
She might have had a warm dinner at night, feeling home.

When he let her get entangled with the drunken him,
Whom he was bound to protect,
Conversely,
She might have had a wonderful trip, flourishing a new leaf in the memory lane.

When he let her confidence in him shatter
In pieces, again and again, beyond repair,
Conversely,
She might have had an exemplar to look up to, at the time of need.

When he let her feel disgusted at the thought of him,
Conversely,
Is a small smile too much to ask?
When she thinks about him.

They say he loves her. Did he really?
When he let her with the lingering question around,
Still screaming he loves her, only in words.
