Chapter 16

I came back quite late. I had just found out what had happened and I was so mad. How could someone be so horrible? I walked into the juvenile jail and heaed screaming. I walked in the direction of the shouting and found Das pulling Undiyal into a lorry.

"AKKA! Enna vitra sollunga kaa!" he cried out for me after he saw me coming through.
(SISTER! Tell them to leave me!)

"Ithellam enna?" I asked
(What's all this?)

"Paatha therila?" Dheena asked
(Can't you see?)

I was furious. I slapped Das and he stumble back a bit holding his cheek.

"Dei mirugama da nee?! Oru uyiroda mathippu ennanu theriyuma da? Apdi patta oru uyira eduka unakku epdi thanda manasu vanthuchu? Bhargav poittan da, Sri ya kaththiyala kuththi irukkanga, ippo avan coma la paduththirukkan. Nee ellam enna jenmam da?!" I shouted at him
(Are you an animal? Do you not know how worthy a life is? How can you take someone's life just like that? Bhargav died, Sri is in a coma because some idiot stabbed him. What are you?)

"Ithellam nadukkum nu therinjum neeyum un annavum ennalam aattam adininga? Appove oora paaththu odi irukkanum, neenga odula; ippo anupavikkiringa." He said to my face gritting his teeth
(You and your brothwr okayed ganes knowing damn well this could happen. You didn't leave when told so now you're experiencing it all)

(I don't care about that, but what did these boys do?)

"Tch, umma ninnu kathatha?! Dei Undiyal mariyathai ulla vanthudu!" he said trying to pull Undiyal but just then Undiyal held my hand and his grip tightened
(Don't shout?! Undiyal get inside!)

"Das ithu nee illa Das. Pls pasangala vitru." I begged him while holding on tight to Undiyal
(Das this isn't you. Pls leave the boys)

"Unakku rende rendu choice thaan. Ippove odidu, illa ivanungalukku uthavaranu solli ingaye ninna, unnayum thookittu poiduven." he threatened me
(You have 2 choices. You either leave now or if you are set on helping these boys, I'll take you with me too)

"Nee enna merattinalum, naan inga irunthu poha poruthu illa." I said sternly standing my ground
(You can threaten me all you want, but I won't leave from here)

"Pohamatala?" Das asked his eyes darkening
(You won't leave?)

"Illa, pohamatan." I said, my eyes meeting his
(No, I won't)

With that Das closed in and put a cloth over my mouth and nose. Suddenly my eyes got heavy. I heard Das talk in my ear.

"Enna manichudu di." he whispered
(I'm sorry)

That was the last thing I heard before I fainted.

Time Skip

I woke up and heard voices around me.

"Yekkov, ezhnthri kaa." Undiyal said
(Wake up!)

"Ennada nadakkuthu?" I asked him
(What is happening?)

"Das anna engala engayo kootittu poran kaa. Aana enga nu therila. Romba bayama irukku kaa." he said
(Das is taking us somewhere. I'm really scared)

"Onnum illa da, nee kavala padatha." I reassured him
(It'll be ok, don't be scared)

Suddenly the lorry came to a halt.

"Vanthuttoma?" Undiyal asked
(Are we here?)

"Therila da." I said a bit scared now
(I don't know...)

Just then the doors opened and I saw JD anna.

"Vaathi!!!!" all the boys shouted happily
(Master!!!!)

"Naa!" I ran into his arms, a sob escaping my mouth even
(Brother!!)

"Unakku onnum illaya?" he asked
(You're ok right?)

"Illa naa, enakku onnum aahala." I said getting out of his hug.
(Yh, I'm fine)

I turned my head to see Vanathi akka. I ran to her and we hugged. I asked her about Velu and honestly my heart broke. How can somebody be so cruel? Just then a specific someone took over mind.

"Naa? Das enga naa?" I asked JD anna and he took he to where he was
(Brother, where is Das?)

"Unna-" I was pulled back
(You-)

"Avan thirunthittan. Avanukku Bhavaniyoda unmaiyana mugam ennanu therijurichu." JD anna said
(He changed. He knows about Bhavani's real face and intentions)

I just stared at him, still annoyed at him

"Aana ippo plan ah execute pannanum." JD anna said
(But we have execute our plan)

"Plan ah? Enna plan?" I asked and he explained everything and I went through with it
(Plan? What plan?)

While JD anna got in the back with the boys, I got in the front with Das.

"Um.. dupatta?" he asked
(Your shawl?)

"Eduthuko." I replied trying to avoid eye contact
(Take it)

He grabbed the dupatta off my shoulders and tied it around my wrists tight. He looked at me and smiled a bit and I did too. He started driving and while he was driving I saw him taking a few glances.

"Malini, sorry." he said

I just looked at him.

"Unna hurt panna enakku viruppam illa, aana." he dragged his sentence
(I didn't want to hurt you but...)

"Aana unakku vera vali illa. Das nee unarnthathe pothum, ithukku nadanthatha patti pesurathula point illa. Vidu." I said smiling lightly at the thought that he's is in the right mind
(But you have no choice. Das you're in the right mind, that's ok. There is no point in talking about what happened. Leave.)

"Sorry maa." he said looking at me now

"Apology accepted, but nandantha ellathayum ennala apdiye maranthada mudiyathu, enakku konjam time venum. Sari sari, naan romab azhaga irukken nu theriyum aana road ah paaththu vandi yah otu, innaikku naan saavrathukku ready illa." I said laughing which earned a chuckle from Das in return
(Apology accepted, but I can't just forget what happened, I need time. I know I'm pretty, but keep your eyes on the road while driving. I don't want to die just yet.)
