Brooklynn and JJ decided to spend the night together at the Chateau, taking over the guest bedroom.

Brooklynn was so exhausted, she fell asleep the moment her head hit the pillow. JJ, however, stayed up all night, anxiously watching the pink-haired girl in front of him.

Sarah and John B spent the night talking in the living room, both of them too on edge to be able to fall asleep.

The four pogues had to wait for Kiara and Pope to come back with the HMS Pogue before they could go anywhere. So for now, they (minus Brooklynn) stayed awake and alert.

When Brooklynn was awake, JJ guided her into the living room. Sarah and John B immediately perked up at the sound of the door opening.

John B sighed in relief, thankful it was only JJ and Brooklynn who emerged instead of Rafe and Barry.

"You guys better not have done anything," John B warned the couple, eyeing JJ's hand placement on Brooklynn's hip.

"Dude, we didn't fuck," JJ deadpanned, shaking his head.

"Yeah, John B," Brooklynn replied, "I can barely walk as it is."

The entire group burst into laughter, forgetting about the tense vibe for a short couple of minutes.

As the noise calmed down, John B spoke up again, "How you doing, Brookie Cookie?"

Brooklynn shrugged, leaning into JJ, "I'm fine."

"You said that yesterday," Sarah noted.

Brooklynn nodded in acknowledgement, "Where's Kie and Pope?"

"Lord only knows," JJ sighed, "We should probably head out to the dock and wait for 'em tho."

Sarah nodded in agreement and stood up, John B in pursuit behind her. Together, they all made their way out to the dock, just in time to see Kiara and Pope arrive on the HMS Pogue.

"Guys, don't tie up!" JJ yelled to Kiara and Pope, immediately catching their attention.

"What?" Kiara asked in confusion. She had heard what he said, but was unsure why he didn't want her to dock the boat.

"We're dipping," JJ announced as he hopped into the boat next to Pope.

"Wait, why?" Pope asked.

"Where'd you guys go?" John B asked, "What happened last night?"

"We slept on the break," Pope answered, "What's up?"

"Slept. Right," JJ chuckled, knowing that wasn't all they did, "We were up all night." JJ explained, gesturing behind him to Sarah and John B.

"We gotta get the hell out of here," John B told Pope, throwing his backpack in the boat.

JJ picked Brooklynn up by the hips and sat her in the boat next to him as John B helped Sarah in.

"What the hell is going on?" Kiara asked, eyes fixed on the bandage around Brooklynn's leg.

"Rafe," Brooklynn breathed out, thanking JJ for his help with a nod.

"He knows were here," Sarah added, "So we have to leave, like now."

Pope nodded frantically and started up the boat once everyone had sat down.

"And what happened to you?" Kiara asked Brooklynn incredulously.

"Her ex-boyfriend shot her," JJ shrugged as if it wasn't a big deal.

"Shut up," Sarah told JJ, hitting his shoulder harshly.

"What?!" Kiara shrieked at JJ's answer, head whipping towards him, expecting an explanation.

Brooklynn waved her off and shook her head, "It's okay. I'm fine."

"You don't look fine," Pope acknowledged, wildly gesturing toward her wound.

"Thanks, Pope," Brooklynn sarcastically thanked the boy, "Just what I needed right now."

"Sorry," Pope mumbled, scratching his head awkwardly.

Pope drove the group to a random island not to far from Kildare. It was empty so he assumed it wasn't well known.

They pulled the boat up onto a grass spot on the island and found some logs to sit down on. Sarah and JJ explained the events of the night before, not leaving out a single detail.

"If Rafe and Barry know, it's only a matter of time-" Kiara started.

"Before everyone knows," Pope finished for her, nodding along.

JJ scoffed in annoyance, "I told you! We should've just gone South, man."

Brooklynn looked over to Sarah who seemed to be deep in thought, both girls ignoring their boyfriends arguing with eachother.

"What is it, Sar?" Brooklynn asked her childhood best friend.

"I have an idea," Sarah announced, "With me back, my dad's going to have to choose between me and Rafe."

John B shook his head, "Sarah-"

"He's gonna choose me," Sarah told him confidently.

"Just please listen!" John B pleaded, "Ward keeps lying to you, Sarah."

"No, JB. She's right," Brooklynn spoke up, "I know Ward. And no matter what, he either has to side with Rafe that you shot Peterkin or side with Sarah that Rafe did."

"Brook, there's no way he's going to agree with her after everything that's happened," Kiara informed her.

"I know it sounds crazy..." Sarah trailed off.

"Yeah, it does," Kiara agreed quickly.

"I know!" Sarah shouted, "But, he's my dad. And I know he loves me."

Brooklynn nodded and spoke before any of her idiotic friends turned down the idea, "He does. How long do you need, Sar?"

"Two hours at most," Sarah answered, letting a small grateful smile slip onto her face.

JJ threw his arms up dramatically and walked off as everyone else bowed their heads in contemplation.

Sarah nodded, upon hearing zero disagreement and stood up.

"Hey, Sarah, wait," Brooklynn requested, struggling to stand up from her seat, "Do you want us to come with you?"

Sarah immediately shook her head, "No, that'll just create more problems."

"Are you sure?" Brooklynn questioned, "Your dad likes me."

Sarah hesitated before nodding her head and boarding the boat. She soundlessly drove away towards Tannyhill and left the group in silence.

"Shit," John B sighed, burying his head in his hands.

"John B, this could actually work," Brooklynn told him, sitting next to him on the log to relieve her aching leg.

JJ turned around and kicked the tree behind him in anger.

"Have faith in Sarah," Brooklynn said to John B, leaning her head on his shoulder.

"I do," John B told her, "But, the rest of her family..."

Brooklynn nodded, knowing immediately what he meant, "I know. But, we'll work this out, no matter what. We always do."

"I don't know, Brook," John B shook his head, straightening up, "Luck runs out eventually."

"You're not in the wrong, John B," Brooklynn reminded the boy, "Karma's a bitch."

John B burst out laughing at Brooklynn's remark. He almost forgot the girl knew how to cuss. She did it so rarely, it amused him every time she did.
