Levi texted me to ask Margaret to make dinner for Mia too and accompany her for dinner as he won't be in the place. I found it weird at first. But Levi doesn't know about our history so he doesn't know about the hatred Mia had for me. So his request was completely innocent. Also I would not miss any chance of spending alone time with her. Although she didn't talk during our dinner. I would have anything she had to offer to me, her anger, her silence, her insults. Because I know I had lost all rights for having her laugh, her smile, her kindness, her love, a long time ago and now I would never have it.
When she left after dinner. I was done before her but I didn't want to leave her so I spent time eating or rather act of eating. When she left I cleared the table. As I put our plates in the dishwasher, my brain wandered to its favourite thought, thought of her. I remembered seeing her walk in the set in that blood red dress. She looked divine, like a regal queen walking in the land of peasants. The dishwasher beeping distracts me from the thought of her. I set the plate in the cabinets and left for my place.

As I entered my apartment I didn't even think of going to bed. Although it is way past my usual bedtime. Having dinner with her had my mind racing rather than relaxing. Well it's not exactly the dinner my mind had been racing since I had seen her in that blood red dress and God knows it hadn't slowed down a bit. It's like my mind is running a marathon with the speed of a sprint and it's not even stopping to catch a breath. So I walked to my bar and poured myself some cognac and sat on the sofa across.
As I sip in the drink and revel in the burning sensation of cognac. I thought about Adam, although he is probably very low on the list of people I want to think about right now. But I still think about him anyway, he is Mia's new security guard. Adam Howard, ex-military, currently works as a private bodyguard in Amex security for three years. He is good at his job and is very professional. How do I know it. Well I researched that the moment Mia told me his name. Well if she hadn't I would still find it all. I was a bit worried when I saw him. I thought something had happened but he was hired just for preventing purposes. It was smart to do, she should have hired him before considering her massive popularity. I even told Levi to not take her out in public places multiple times. It could be dangerous for her safety. But only if he would listen to me. I can't tell her that she would come at me for even suggesting that and would do exactly the opposite of my suggestion just to infuriate me.
Well she can get a bit difficult sometimes. Okay she gets a lot more difficult all the time. But I would have anything that she had to offer.
Sometimes I feel like I am this sappy, obsessive ex who just can't get over a simple breakup. But it's not like that I am just protective of her. I don't want anyone to harm her or hurt her in any way and she is all alone in this brutal New York. And I had known her since she was 7, it's normal to feel protective about her. "Liar" a voice came from my heart. I shut it down and drank my third drink. I placed the empty glass over the bar counter and walked towards my bedroom.
