The almost kiss

Dan and I walked back home when all of the sudden it started raining. Like what? It's summer! It makes no sense in my head. I regretted not bringing a hooded jacket today but honestly I didn't really check what the weather was gonna be like today. 

"Did you bring a jacket?" I asked him

"Well duh what am I wearing"

I turned and saw him in his black coat. 

"Why is everything you wear black?Including coats" I teased. He stuck out his tongue

"My life is just basically black clothes" he replied

I laughed as we walked. I felt the drips of rain stick to my clothes as my head got completely wet. I sighed and took of my ponytail and drooped my head down. At this point, all my jackets should just have hoods in case of emergency. 

Strands of my hair started to drop and stick to my face. Dan looked at me like he was debating with something.

"Are you cold?" he asked, dumbfoundedly. 

"I'm ok, I guess" I shivered

Dan scoffed. "Sure you are" he replied and put his arm around my shoulder. My heart started beating a little faster. 

"Thanks" I mumbled. With his other arm, he grabbed the llama hat and adjusted it on my head. Oh yeah, why didn't I think of that?

"Thanks" I said again

He chuckled, "You don't have to thank me so much" he answered. I did something I didn't expect to come out of me and nuzzled my head on his shoulder near his neck. I felt him tense up under me but then he relaxed and held his grip tighter around my shoulder. As we walked, I pondered on what would become of me in the future. Especially in such a new destination across the continent that was much different than California. 

We walked slowly, my head still down on his shoulder. We didn't speak which made it a little awkward under the circumstances. But at the same time, the quiet streets of London with a tired Daniel Howell was blissful and sweet. 

"I'm never gonna forget this" I whispered to myself, thinking Dan was probably in his own world.

"Why?"

I jumped a little and took my head off his shoulder.

"Jeez, you scared me", I started, "And well because my favorite youtubers have accompanied me on this journey! Which is legit awesome!" I yelled. 

"Gee, we're not that big" he replied

"Are you serious? What planet do you live in where you're not famous? Mars? Jupiter? Out of the solar system? Gallifrey even though it doesn't exist anymore?" I asked.

"Probably all of them" he teased

"No but speaking seriously, Dan. This is honestly my fairy tale. I would have never imagined moving to the UK, a year ago. I'm gonna start anew, with new friends, new apartment, new country, new..everything, honestly. A cool exuberant beginning. Ok, now I'm just babbling" I explained. 

"Fairy tale? Really?"  he got closer. I could feel my heart start beating slightly faster.

"I guess" 

"I think I'm in one right now" he breathed

"Oh really?" I teased

"Yeah"

"How so?"

"Well...I spent a day with someone...cool"

"Only cool?" I mocked, enjoying it.  He rolled his eyes. The gap that was once between us started getting smaller by the second.

I put my arms on his shoulder. "Phil's waiting" I whispered. The next thing that happened was something I didn't expect.

He kissed my cheek and my arm trailed back to my sides. I could feel his breath tickling my forehead as I looked up, embarrassed. " I'm kinda glad this coincidence of you now living in our apartment has happened" he whispered into my ear. I felt my cheeks heating up.

"Yeah me too" I gulped

His lips parted and he moved to the right, facing me directly. Our noses touched softly as he started inching closer, millimeters from my lips. I closed my eyes...waiting. A phone started ringing and i nervously opened my eyes. Dan glared at his phone, furiously.

"It's Phil" he said

I chucked nervously, "Ah, I think we should get going then" I replied and started walking again. 

I can't believe that just happened.
