.The conversation soon shifted to their upcoming journey to Gusu. Yuemei turned to Wei Wuxian and asked, "When are you leaving for Gusu?"
Wuxian grinned, his excitement evident. "We'll be heading out in two days," he said.
Yuemei thought for a moment, then smiled. "It would be great if both of our sects could travel together for the rest of the journey. We were planning to spend tomorrow exploring Yunmeng Jiang and then start the day after. That way, we can travel as one group."
Minghao blinked in mild surprise, caught off guard by his sister's sudden change of travel plans. He glanced at her, raising an eyebrow. Yuemei gave him a quick, reassuring smile, and he shook his head with fondness. It was unusual for her to change plans on the fly, but when it came to something like this, he knew it wouldn't hurt to indulge her. A one-day delay wouldn't affect their arrival at Cloud Recesses anyway.
Wuxian's eyes lit up at the idea of sightseeing in Yunmeng Jiang. He could barely contain his excitement. "That sounds perfect! I'll be the one showing you around. I know all the best spots."
Before he could say more, Jiang Yanli, seated nearby, cleared her throat delicately. "But Wei Wuxian, would everyone else be okay with you taking on the responsibility of guiding them?" Her voice was gentle, but there was a clear undertone of concern, a hint of hesitation that Yuemei picked up on immediately.
Yuemei's lips curled into a small, knowing smile as she caught the subtle shift in Yanli's tone. She had seen people like her before-sweet on the surface, but with motives lurking beneath. Her own mother had been a master at that kind of charm, speaking kindly while positioning herself just right.
"Oh, I'm sure Wei Wuxian can handle it," Yuemei responded, her tone smooth. She tilted her head slightly as she looked at Wuxian, playful amusement dancing in her eyes. "In fact, I'd love for him to show me around. I'm sure it will be quite an experience."
Yanli's eyes flickered with a moment of uncertainty, though she quickly masked it with a polite smile. The situation was subtle, but Yuemei could tell that there was an undercurrent of tension-Yanli wasn't entirely pleased with the arrangement. Yuemei's smile widened just a fraction, knowing that she was engaging in a bit of a game of her own.
Wuxian, blissfully unaware of the undercurrents swirling around him, grinned even more broadly. "It'll be fun! There's so much to see in Yunmeng, I can't wait to show you all the best places. And don't worry, I'll make sure it's an adventure!"
Yuemei turned to Wei Wuxian, her voice laced with curiosity. "So, Wei Wuxian, what exactly do you have in mind for this sightseeing tour? Any particular spots you think are worth visiting?"
Wuxian leaned back in his seat, looking as though he was about to embark on a grand tale. "Oh, absolutely! There's this little temple by the river, hidden away from the usual crowds. I think you'd love it-it's serene, with the sound of the water flowing, and it has the best view of the mountains. Not to mention, it's a perfect place for some...quiet reflection." He winked at her, his tone mischievous.
Yuemei raised an eyebrow, feigning skepticism. "Quiet reflection? With you as the guide? I find that hard to believe."
Minghao snorted softly, crossing his arms. "That's a bit of an oxymoron, isn't it? Wei-xiong and 'quiet' don't go together."
