Aubrey

After three hours, including pit stops, we finally arrived in San Francisco.

"Hey, before we go ring shopping can we rest in the hotel, I'm tired."

"Tired of what?" Shawn asked. "Sitting in the car all day?"

"Yes, my butt actually hurts from sitting."

"Check in is at 9:00, sorry bud."

"You mean 9 am, right?"

"Nope. Pm." He replied. "Come on, let's go get some rings!"

"Remind me why I did this again." I groaned as he dragged me down the street.

"Because you love me."

"You owe me."

"Alright, I guarantee that we'll find the ring here."

It was a cute little store. It wasn't your typical Swarovski. It was more traditional, I liked it. And it was also closed.

"Um, Shawn. It's uh. Closed until August fifth." I pointed to the note on the door.

"But this was the best in town!" He wailed. "Now what?"

"How about something to eat?"

"That actually sounds good."

-

"Shawn, look!" I said pointing to a really elegant ring with a huge diamond.

"That's perfect!" He ran into the store.

I followed him in.

"Hello, are you two looking for wedding rings?" A lady asked us.

My face flushed red in embarrassment, "No, we're actually looking for an engagement ring for his girlfriend."

"Oh, come this way." Shawn and I followed.

"These are beautiful." I said in awe.

"I'll let you decide." The lady left to go greet another customer.

"Way too flashy, too dull, holy shit that's expensive, ugly.." Shawn went on.

"I think Claire would really like these three." I said.

Another lady took out the rings so we can get a closer look at them. After what it seemed like five hours, Shawn finally decided.

"This one." He picked up a gorgeous diamond ring. It was simple, but so beautiful.

"She'll love it." I said.

"It's decided, i'll get this one." He declared.

"Alright, what ring size would you like?" The ring lady asked.

"Uh."

"You don't know the size of your girlfriend's hand?" I asked.

"I don't usually pay attention to her hands except when-"

"Thanks, I don't need to know."

"You two have pretty much the same sized hands." Shawn said. "Why don't you fit it?"

"Sure." I shrugged placing my hand on the display table.

"Okay, try this." The lady handed Shawn the ring.

Flashback

Shawn and I were four at the time.

"Lets play house!" I suggested.

"Okay! I'll be the daddy, you be the mommy!" Shawn clapped his hands.

"How can we be mommy and daddy if we're not married?"

"Then marry me!" Shawn exclaimed.

"You can't propose like that!"

"What's propose?" He asked.

"When you ask someone to marry you." I explained. "I saw it on t.v!"

"How do you do that?"

"In the movie, the boy went on his knees and gave the girl a ring."

"That's it?!"

"Yup."

"But I don't have a fancy ring, I only have this ring pop."

"That's okay."

Shawn knelt down in front of me on both of his knees and stuck out the ring pop, "Do you wanna marry me or something like that?"

"Okay!" We high fived.

End of Flashback

"Yes." I felt the ring slip onto my finger.

"What?" Shawn asked.

"I meant that Claire would definitely say, yes." I cleared my throat.

"I hope so." He turned back to the cashier. "Alright, i'll buy it."

"Good luck on that proposal." The lady said before we left.

I brushed off what just happened and tried to forget about it.

"We're finally done!" Shawn said in relief. "Okay, lets go home."

"Yeah, okay. You promised sightseeing, remember?"

"What happened to being exhausted?"

"I was just bored."

"But where do we hide the ring?" He asked.

"I'll keep it in my purse, if someone tries to take it, I'll have to take their life."

Shawn handed me the ring and I hid it.

"Where are we going now?" I asked Shawn.

"Surprise."

I groaned, "Just tell me."

He turned on the radio which was playing the song every person who experienced the 90's knows. That's when I looked out the window to see the Full House house.

"Have mercy.." I was actually jumping in my seat. I probably looked like a walrus, clapping around.

Shawn parked the car beside the hill in front of the house. It had a really good view of the Golden Gate Bridge.

"Are you hungry?" He asked laying out a blanket.

"When am I not?" I helped him lay out some of the food he brought.

"This is so cool, I'm reliving my childhood." I squealed. "Thank you."

"No problem." Shawn took a bite out of his sandwich.

"This is good stuff." I munched.

"Remember that time when we were seven, and we got into a full on fist fight who was the better sandwich maker." Shawn said.

"I won that sandwich making contest and that fist fight."

"Sure, you better taste this sandwich."

I took a bite out of his sandwich, "Fine you win."

"You might've won when we were seven, but your days are over."

The sun was setting and it was so beautiful.

"Shawn do you have glasses for the wine?" I asked opening the bottle.

"That's what I forgot.."

"What the hell." I took a sip from the bottle and handed it to Shawn.
