Chapter 10: Broken

×Kitts P.O.V.×
~Dream~
I opened my eyes and sat up. I looked around and realized I was in the woods. I stood up and started walking along the trail. I stopped hearing a  bittersweet voice echo throughout the forest. "Kitt? Sweetie?" The voice called. I looked around confused. "M-mom?" I called out hearing the voice repeat the same line. "Mom!?!" I broke into a sprint trying to find her. I tripped over a few roots and rocks while running and stopped when I approached a lake covered with a layer of fog. I looked up at the gloomy rain clouds and stepped on the few round pebbles and stood at the edge of the lakes shore. I looked around. I was alone. I sat down on the cold damp rocks and brought my knees to my chest closing my eyes. This was my worst fear, being lonely. I'm fine with being alone, it's relaxing being alone for a few hours. Being lonely is different that's being alone for days upon days, I don't like that. I started crying out of fear of being stuck like this. I sobbed silently the jumped up when I heard a crunch on the pebbles behind me. I looked up and saw Nolan. I ran to him and hugged him tightly happy to not be alone. He smiled as I hugged him and pulled back tears streaming down my face. He pulled me back into the hug stroking my hair and pulled back wiping my tears off with his thumb. "You need to wake up." He said holding my face in his hands. I looked at him confused. "W-wake up? What do you mean?" I asked as he leaned in really close. "Wake up." He said putting his lips on mine pulling me towards him.

×Nolans P.O.V.×
We got to the hospital and the doctors took Kitt into a room to do tests on her. Me and Alice were forced to sit in the waiting room. I sat in a chair next to Alice and stared at the floor. A few hours passed by and I leaned back into my chair and Naven and Lacey sat talking as I closed my eyes waiting. I felt someone put something on my shoulder and looked over. Alice was laying her head on my shoulder. I guess she was going to sleep. I let her stay there closing my eyes and leaning my head against the wall falling asleep myself.

I woke up to Alice tugging on my sleeve. "Hm? What is it?" I looked at her sitting up and popping my neck. "The doctors said we could go in but she's asleep." Alice said standing up and dusting off her clothes. I jumped up almost immediately and walked past everyone and followed the doctor to her room. I walked in and looked at her and felt a pang in my heart. "She...she looks so...broken." I said to myself as I walked over to her bed and grabbed her hand. She was freezing cold and damp. I grabbed a chair and sat really close to her bed. I just stared at her, she had a black eye and a busted lip she had dried blood under her nose and mouth. She looked so beaten and broken I just wanted to hold her. I turned and looked at everyone else and they were talking. I turned back to Kitt and leaned forward and held her hand again. Resting my head on the cold metal bar.

×Kitts P.O.V.×
I slowly opened my eyes being blinded by the bright white light. Tried moving but my muscles ached. I opened my mouth to speak but I coughed. I blinked a couple of times and my vision went to normal and the sound of people talking filled the room. "Uh...hm?" I croaked and the whole room fell silent. I looked around and saw my friends in chairs near the door and Nolan in a chair next to me clutching my hand. "Nolan, you might wanna wake up." I heard Naven say as Nolan raised his head up with a confused look on his face. His eyes reached mine and he sprung up and tackled me in a hug. I yelped in pain and he pulled back then hugged me more gently as if I was a fragile glass doll. I cleared my throat and held my side and groaned as the nurse came in. "Kitt?" I looked up at the nurse to see Victoria. She had a concerned look on her face as she ran over to me. I felt Nolans hand pull away as she got closer. "What happened to you?" She said opening the folder in her hand. "I opened my mouth to speak but was cut off by Lacey. "Some girls at school ganged up on her at lunch." Victoria look at me and then the floor looking slightly angered. "Hm. Well I have your test results and your x-rays... You have two cracked ribs, a broken nose, and a fractured wrist. It's a good thing you don't have any brain damage but you did lose almost 2 pints of blood." The room fell in deeper silence and I looked down feeling a bit woozy. She put her hand on my shoulder and gave me a smile. "You'll have to stay here for a few days. I'll contact the school and tell them." She smiled and walked out of the room. Everyone stood up and crowded around the bed. I cleared my throat. "When did you guys get here?" I asked coughing a bit. "We've been here since they took you in the ambulance. Nolan and Alice came with you and we drove here." Lacey said sitting on my bed. I groaned slightly. "I can't wait till I'm better." I said looking around. "Why's that?" Nolan said. "One I don't like hospitals and two so I can beat those bitches asses." I laughed slightly. Victoria walked in and spoke up. "Well the principal wants to come up and the chief of police does to tomorrow and visiting hours are almost over guys." I looked scared. "Does that mean I have to be here alone?" I asked. "Yeah unless someone wants to stay the night." I looked around and Lacey opened her mouth but was interrupted by Nolan. "I'll do it." He said standing up and smiling. "I'll stay to!" Alice said grinning up at him. "No no you go and sleep at home I'll stay." She looked down sad and a little angry as she huffed and walked away. "Want me to come get you for school tomorrow bro?" Naven whispered to Nolan. "No I don't wanna leave her alone. She looked so scared..." he said looking over at me. "You sure you don't want me to stay?" Alice perked up. "I'm positive." He said with a stern voice. She turned and stomped away. Naven walked away and Nolan came and sat next to me.

"Looks like Alice really likes you." I said turning away and getting a sip of water. "Eh oh well. She's not my type." I spit my water out suprised. She wasn't his type? They have a lot in common and she's everyone type I don't understand. "S-Shes not your type? She's everyone's type." I laughed. "Not mine." He shrugged. "Hm, Hey forgot to tell you about a strange dream I had." I said raising up. "Well I'm all ears. Shoot." He leaned forward and smiled. "Well I woke up in the woods and I heard my mom call me so I ran to look for her and I found a lake covered in fog and I was scared cause I was lonely then I turned and you were there. Then I hugged you and you told me I needed to wake up then you like pulled me closer and ki-" I was cut off by Victoria walking in with a bag of subway and two big cups. "I got you guys some milkshakes. It helps cool your throat." She smiled and handed us the food and milkshakes and she handed me the remote. "Thanks mom." Nolan said smiling biting into his sandwich. "Thank you Victoria." I smiled. "No problem dears now I need to get back to work here's the remote watch some tv." She said handing me the remote and leaving the room.

I turned on the TV and flipped through the channels till I found a ghost hunting show. I sat and ate chewing slowly and drinking my milkshake. I looked over at Nolan who was really into the show and giggled quietly. He looked at me. "Oh you didn't finish your dream." He turned the TV down. "Well before I woke up you pulled me close to you and...you...uh kissed me..." he blushed and laughed. "Well some weird dream huh." He laughed making me laugh. 'Yeah I guess it was." I finished eating and looked at the clock. It was 10:20 p.m. I finished my milkshake. "I'm not tired yet. You want to help me to something? Its ok if you dont want to." I said swinging my legs over the edge of the bed. "Uh sure what is it?" He asked. "Help me to the bathroom so I can take a bath." He smiled. "Sure brace yourself." He said as he picked me up and carried me to the bathroom. "How are you gonna be able to take a shower with a fractured wrist?" He asked standing me up against the counter. "Well they're putting a cast on tomorrow so I don't know....hm..." I said looking down. "Well if you need anything I'll be right outside ok?" "Ok." I said as he closed the door. I reached for the back of my gown and began to pull it off. "Ow!" I yelled as a sharp pain ripped through me. "You ok?" Nolan asked from outside. "...no actually I need more help.." I looked down as the door opened. "With what?" He asked. "My uh...clothes." my face burned a bright red. "Uh...um..you sure?" He asked turning a shade of red. "I looked down and nodded "You don't have to I could keep trying but I really want this blood off me I feel gross." "No no its fine I'll help you." "Thank you."

×Nolans P.O.V.×
She was asking me to take her clothes off. I reached for the back of her hospital gown and gently and carefully pulled it off her making sure not to hurt her. She covered her chest with her arms and I looked at the bruises and scars on her. "Are all this from the fight?" I asked worridly. "Not the scars..." she looked down. I felt my heart break for this girl. "No you didn't.." I put the gown down and gently hugged her and she hugged back. I felt her press against me and I shivered. I remembered she didn't have a shirt on and I was caressing her bare back and she hasn't said anything. I gently pulled back and turned on the water. I looked at her and took my shirt off. "Does this make you feel less uncomfortable?" She looked at me and nodded. I smiled and looked away as she took my hand and stepped into the tub that was filling with water. I helped her sit down and turned to leave. "Wait...um.." she said covering herself with her arms again. "What is it?" I asked. "OK super weird question but you thing you could help me... get.... clean?" She looked scared and helpless and it was adorable. I smiled and nodded grabbing a sponge and some soap. I turned off the water and sat on the edge of the tub and gently scrubbed her skin. I gently washed her back and handed her the sponge. "You think you uh.. could get your chest...area?" She took the sponge and scrubbed herself. I grabbed a small bottle of shampoo and scrubbed it through her hair. I grabbed the shower head and put it on the gentlest setting and rinsed her off before doing the same with the bottle of conditioner. I helped her up and set a towel out on the counter. I rinsed whatever soap and conditioner off her and wrapped the towel around her. "I-It s-sure is c-cold." She said through chattering teeth. I nodded and dried her off and helped her put her gown back on and carried her to her bed. I placed her in her bed and sat down next to her. I looked at her as her eyes closed and she quietly fell asleep. I smiled listening to her almost silent snores. I grabbed her hand and kissed the top of it and leaned back in my chair falling asleep.
