My eye sight really isn't a problem any more, I've gotten used to the whole fact that I'm permanently blind, I feel my way to Shayna's room. I feel her door and knock on it. "What?" Her drowsy morning voice. "I wanted to say I'm sorry about all the stuff I said to you last night" I tell her. I hear her get up, she grabs my wrist, "Come sit" She leads me to her bed. I sit on her soft bed, it feels fluffy like fur on a dog. "Ella is having a baby and you will keep what I'm about to say a secret, ok?" I nod.
"I'm a lesbian" I shutter.
"You know how Christian our parents are! They'll kick you out of the house!" I yowl.
"SHUT THE HELL UP!" She punches my arm. "Just keep it a secret from Mom and Dad, ok?".
"But with Ella as well, Mom said you can't hang out with her anymore because she got pregnant before getting married" I tell her sharply. Shayna punches my arm again,
"DID YOU NOT HEAR WHAT I SAID!" I rub my arm, "Can you please stop?" I growl. Shayna snorts then guides me out of her room, "Screw you!" She slams the door. I feel my way back to my room, I feel the temperature change, I feel my bed. I lie back down in it listening to the TV in my room. The reporter's voice on the news has become sort of my second best friend, besides my real best friend David. We talk together a lot on the phone, I can't go to school because my Mom leaves early for work, so does my Dad and Shayna can't drive. She says it's an "Poor, dangerous way of travel" she prefers walking, which I can't without bashing my head into the base of a street light. The lady reporter tells some breaking news to my ears.
"Residents of San Francisco's west side are to be on watch for a man in his early 20s wears a purple mask with blood stains on his shirt, if you have seen or been a victim of this man call police immediately, he is wanted in the kidnapping of twenty five children at a local daycare, the children's remains have been found in a dumpster, one child is still missing" We live in the west side! I quickly feel my way into Shayna's room and tell her, she holds me.
"He won't come here don't worry" She tells me.
