Questions kept swirling in my mind, refusing to give me peace

Questions kept swirling in my mind, refusing to give me peace. The same thoughts, over and over again.

Can I trust him? Was he lying to me?

I tried to shake off the doubts, but they lingered like a shadow, haunting my every step. The image of that woman hugging him earlier today kept replaying in my head. I hated how it made me feel. Insecure. Hurt.

But then a voice in my head whispered, Anaya, have you ever asked him directly? Maybe he wasn’t lying. Maybe you misunderstood.

Yes. I needed clarity. I had to ask him — not to accuse him, but to know the truth.

Taking a deep breath, I walked into the living room where Maan sat, lost in thought. He looked up as I entered, his eyes softening as they met mine.

I sat beside him, nervous yet determined.

“Maan… if I ask you something, will you answer it truthfully?”

He frowned slightly but nodded without hesitation. “Yes, Anaya. Of course. You can ask me anything.”

I gave him a small, hesitant smile before voicing the question that had been tormenting me all day.

“Earlier today… when I came to your office… was it really you hugging her, or did she do it deliberately?”

Maan's expression softened further, and he reached out to hold my hands. His touch was warm, reassuring.

“Anaya, believe me… it wasn’t me.” His voice was gentle yet firm. “She was the one who did everything. It happened so fast that I didn’t even get the time to process what was going on. And before I could push her away, you walked in.”

I studied his face, searching for any sign of deception. But all I saw was sincerity. His words resonated with me, melting away my doubts.

I should trust him.

No — I do trust him.

Tears welled up in my eyes as I whispered, “I’m sorry, Maan. I shouldn’t have doubted you. I… I just… It’s all my fault.”

Maan gently wiped away my tears, shaking his head. “Hey, hey… don’t cry so much. It’s not good for your health — or the baby’s. It’s okay, Anaya. These things happen. What matters is that we’re together now.”

I couldn’t hold back anymore. I leaned forward and hugged him tightly, feeling the tension leave my body as he wrapped his arms around me.

“I love you, Maan,” I whispered against his chest.

“I love you too, Anaya. More than anything.”

His excitement was contagious as he pulled back slightly, a wide grin spreading across his face. “And, oh my god… We’re going to be parents! Can you believe it? We’re going to have a baby!”
