Abhimaan's POV

The cold wind cut through me as I stood outside my car, parked a short distance from Anaya's childhood home. My steps faltered, and my breath hitched as her words replayed in my head:

"You have broken me, Mr. Abhimaan. You can go from here forever."

Forever. The word carried a weight I wasn't prepared to bear. I wanted to barge back inside, drop to my knees, and beg her to give me a chance to explain. But the steel in her voice told me she wouldn't hear me, not now.

I turned the key in the ignition, the engine's hum filling the silence. My hands gripped the steering wheel as I drove aimlessly, my thoughts spiraling out of control.

The betrayal she thought she saw was far from the truth, but I couldn't deny the optics. Tara had always been manipulative, but I underestimated her determination to ruin what I had with Anaya.

And I let her win.

I found myself parked in front of a bar, the neon lights flickering like a heartbeat. This wasn't my scene, but I needed an escape-anything to numb the searing pain in my chest.

As I stepped inside, the smell of alcohol and desperation hit me. I sank onto a barstool, signaling the bartender for a drink.

"Rough day?" he asked, placing a glass of whiskey in front of me.

"More than you know," I muttered before downing the drink in one go. The burn in my throat was a welcome distraction.

Anaya's POV

Meera insisted I eat something, her soft voice breaking through my haze of heartbreak. I picked at the sandwich she made, unable to summon the appetite for more than a few bites.

"Anaya," she said gently, sitting across from me, "you can't keep doing this to yourself. You've barely slept or eaten. I get it-you're hurt. But don't let him take more from you than he already has."

Her words struck a chord. She was right. Abhimaan had already shattered my heart. I wouldn't let him ruin the rest of me.

"I just..." My voice cracked as I pushed the plate away. "I need time, Meera. Time to figure out how to move forward."

Meera gave me a sad smile. "You'll get there. I'll help you."

She reached across the table to squeeze my hand, and for the first time in days, I felt a glimmer of hope.

Later that night, as I lay in bed staring at the ceiling, my mind wandered to the times Abhimaan made me laugh until my stomach hurt, the way he held my hand as if he'd never let go. The memories brought a fresh wave of tears.

How could someone I trusted so deeply betray me?

Abhimaan's POV

The whiskey didn't help. Neither did the second or third glass. The pain remained, stubbornly refusing to drown under the weight of alcohol.

As I stumbled out of the bar, my phone buzzed in my pocket. It was Tanya. I ignored it. She was likely checking if I'd made things right with Anaya.

I hadn't.

Instead, I found myself dialing the one person who might help me fix this mess.

"Tanya," I said when she picked up, my voice thick with alcohol and despair. "I need you to tell Anaya the truth. She won't listen to me."
