KENNY
Last night was a real problem for me, seeing as how I had to calm Willow down, rock Stacy to sleep, battle three nightmares and find sleep. So yeah, I hope that is enough to convince the teacher why I am late. Again!
I am always late on all my first days, so I did not expect to see everyone running around down the hall. Everyone except Anya, Stacy and Willow. They left early! Those Judasing snakes!
I had no time to ask why the rest were late, but we ran. Out the door and up the street towards campus. Why the heck was the school so freaking big anyway?
Ray was super fast and was ahead of us all, then Seth, who was on the track team for half of his life. Andy and I were together afterwards, then John and Caleb last. Mostly because John was texting while running. Then Caleb is just slow.
Ahead of us was a waist-length gate for the entrance of campus from the 'estate', and Ray ate it up in one leap, Seth did a reverse safety vault, I leapt with a side vault and did not see how the rest leapt over, but I bolted to the huge castle-like building.
"Who knows where the dang class is?!?" Seth asked, panicked as we barged through the front door into the large space that led up two staircases.
John snapped off his phone, "I know, keep up!" he dashed forth and led the way up the left staircase.
Two hallways, another staircase, and a wrong class later, we arrived and did not notice it until we burst in, then froze when all eyes came upon us. I felt a hand push me forward, and I could tell it was Seth. He had a habit of doing that when we were in trouble, but I have to say, I am good at talking to adults.
"Well, I guess you are the sixth that missed the attendance." The teacher said, looking at us with that evil teacher smirk.
I hesitated, she had short hair, short nails, a suit (with pants!) and minimal make-up. I had a feeling I was facing the boss-lady type of teacher, "My apologies, ma'am, we got severely lost." I said with the best nervous smile I had.
She stared at us blankly for a moment, then asked, "Lost in the building or in your closet?"
I had not registered the question until I looked down and saw that I had on Nikes in white, then I looked at my companions and saw that Andy wore the right pleated skirt, but had white heel boots (don't ask how she ran in those) and a letter jacket in white too. Seth was in full uniform, but he had no blazer on, and Ray did not have the right pants; he had black jeans. John got away with wearing the whole thing, which shocked me. And Caleb did not even have anything right, grey sweat pants, a black oversized sweatshirt, and red Jordans. In my book, he rocked it.
But not in the teacher's. I gave a short, nervous laugh as I heard the snickering in the class. "Maybe we got lost in both?"
"Family name?" she asked.
"Gnah," I answered, and everyone burst out laughing. I did not get the joke.
"Of course, you had to be a descendant of the infamous Larry." The teacher sighed, "Take your seats."
So we did.
As soon as I looked up at the lecture hall, I saw six seats, three between Stacy and Willow and three above them on the left of Anya. Well, at least they saved us seats.
I sat next to Willow as Ray and Andy sat simultaneously away towards Stacy. Caleb, John and Seth sat by Anya. And after a review of what the teacher was saying before we came in, I asked, "Why did you guys snake us like that?" in a whisper.
"I woke you up, but you weren't having it," Willow answered.
I clearly was still not 'having it', so I asked again, "When was that anyway?"
"At seven on the dot before I left." Willow laboured to answer as she made some notes.
I looked at Anya seated directly behind me, "What of you?"
"Woke up at seven thirty, then took a portal to class." She said. I just noticed that she was not writing like the rest were, and her feet were on the table, and her short hair was a curly mess on her head.
I got shocked by the reply, along with Ray and Seth, and we all yelled, "WHAT??"
The teacher had had it, and I winced when she called us up to the front of the class. Anya led the way this time, and she looked so unbothered. I caught John snickering, and I sent him the bird.
We were sent out to the hall until the bell rang. At least we played rock, paper, scissors and charades. I kept losing to Anya.
When the class was done, Mrs Cole, as it was, called John to her office to give him uniform passes for us for the day, which made me fall for her. The next period was a free single of forty minutes, so I took that time to catch some sleep.
I woke up to everyone snickering and saying it was time for a shot break, and we could grab food. So we did.
But I could not shake the feeling that something was off from the stares I got at the café.
The barista smiled at me as I gave my order and said, "Who is the artist?"
I got confused and looked at the guys, but they all diverted their gaze while smiling, which officially pissed me off. I looked back at the barista who pointed at the bathrooms, which I went to and got the worst shock of my pitiful life.
They had put on makeup with RED lipstick and a little pink elastic band tying up some of my front hair. OH! THAT'S IT!
I sprinted out to find Seth, the last to exit the café, so I chased them down. And they better pray that God listens to their side of the story.
