43.~𝐌𝐞𝐭~

SYAIR

"Shit my back hurting" i say attempting to crack it before i decided to lay down. We were almost done with the baby room. Currently everyone was in here helping it get done faster. I was glad to see everyone in better moods, mainly amir because he looked like he was going through it the most. He looked healthier and i was proud.

"Where you want me to put these?" Amir asks Yori referring the shelfs he had in his hands. Since we were taller than them they gave us most of the wall stuff. "Umm nail some up over on that wall, stagger them a bit to and please make sure it's even" she plead. "I got you" he chuckled.

"Syair get yo ass up" she says standing over me while i laid across the floor. "Can we take a break  or some shit" i whined. "Fine, break time" she clap her hands together and everyone let out a deep breath.

"Thank lord" Aria said stepping out the room and we all followed. "Right had us in there like slaves" Amir mugged her.

"Shut up boy, you volunteered" she glared at him. "No i-" was all he got to say before aria hit him, mouthing him to shut up. "Ow" he rubbed his chest.

Never argue with a pregnant woman.

I shake my head at them grabbing a cold water from the fridge. "Get me one too" Aria asked . I reach back in the fridge handing her a water bottle. "Y'all want to order some pizza?" Yori asked. "Yes" i say walking up to her kissing her cheek. "What was that for?" She blushed. "Just because" i smiled at her.

"Mmhm" she hummed.

"What y'all want, pepperoni? Meat lover? Cheese?" She threw out some options. "I want pepperoni" amir said. "Me too" i said.

"Ight so pepperoni it is" she said calling the pizza place. I go to join them in the living room, stretching my legs out.

...

"It actually looks so good, im happy" she says looking at the baby room we finished about a hour ago.

"It does look good" i agree coming up behind her wrapping my arms around her waist.

Amir and Aria left not to long ago everyone was tried after today. I was ready to lay down and rest. "Come on" i grab her hand.

Bring us into the room. I know she had a long day too and was tired. I'd knew she want to take a hot bath. So i went and filled the bath. "Sy" she say almost like a whisper. "Hm" i turned to look at her. "You don't have to do this" she stared at me. "I know, but i want to" i say pulling her to me placing a kiss to her forehead.

I gently start to remove her clothes. Leading her to the bathe as i turn the water off, checking the temperature before she got in. Adding in the soap watching it form in the water.

She steps in soaking down into the water letting out a deep sigh as she relaxes.

I leave giving her some time before i came back with towels ready to join her. Removing my clothes as they pooled at my feet. I joined her in the tub sitting on the opposite side.

My eyes shoot open when I hear small groans coming from the bathroom. "Baby" I call out popping up from the bed. She doesn't respond. I get up making my way to the bathroom door pushing it open.

"You okay?" I asked, watching as she leans over the sink with her hand rubbing her belly.

"What's wrong" I asked worriedly. She shakes her head, but I could see the pain written in her face. "He's just kicking alot" she groans.

I wrap my arms over her stomach, hugging her as I rocked us hoping to make her feel better. 

"Do you want to go to the hospital? Do you think the babies coming?" I worried. She chuckles at my questions. "No I'm okay" she stand up straight.

"Ready to go back to bed?" I questioned, staring up at her through the mirror, she nods.

After a few hours we both woke up from my phone ringing. Popping up from my sleep I reach over grabbing my phone.

"Hello?" I say adjusting my eyes. "Hi, this is Mrs. Collin's, I was calling to let you know that I've found a sister of La'yori's mother. Carmen, in Macon, Georgia "she spoke. After hearing the name, it snaps me out of the sleepy state, putting her on speaker so yori could hear.

"Is there any way we could get in contact with her?" I asked.

"Yes there is, we have her phone number and few home addresses." She answered."We'll start with the phone number"

"Okay, I'll make sure I send it to you" she's says. "Alright, thank you" I say. "No problem." She says before hanging up.

"I'm nervous" she lays against my chest. I rub her back comforting her.

"Do you want to call and see if she'll answer?" I questioned staring at the text Ms. Collin's just sent me.

"Yeah, what time it is?" She yawns snuggling herself into my arm. "8:24" I say closing my phone, placing it on the dresser.

We lay here for a few minutes, before getting up to start the day.

LAYORI

I look at the number debating if I wanted to call or not. Would she pick up? Would she even wanna talk to me? What if she doesn't want shit to do with me?

So many things ran through my mind. Something in me wanted to reach out to family but another part of me feel I shouldn't even have to do this. If they wanted to they would, right?

How come nobody ever reached out to me? Did they assume I wouldn't want to talk to them after what they did?

I needed answers.

My finger shook, hovering over the green call button.

Fuck it.

The ringing noise echoed through the room. I felt like I was drenching sweat right now. "Hello?" A confused voice comes through the phone. I freeze. Not knowing what to say.

She picked up

"Helloooo?" She says a bit louder, making me realize I need to say something. "Hi" my voice cracks from how nervous I am.

"Who's this?" She ask. I get silent not really knowing if she remember me.

"Layori...Janai's daughter" I say my heart thumping out my chest. There was a long pause before she said anything.

"Oh my gosh"

😭it felt like I haven't been here in forever, sorry for the long wait. This month been busy asl for me.

But I'm back, this book is coming to an end.
