The warm sunlight streamed through the windows as Aaradhya stood in front of the mirror adjusting her dress now , she and Rajveer had planned a library date but as usual his work had delayed him.
Rajveer entered the room buttoning his cufflinks, his phone pressed against his ear As he ended the call, he looked at her with a smile.
"Get ready.... I'll be back within 30 minutes" he said casually, glancing at her reflection.
Aaradhya turned toward him, hesitant "No, it's okay''... If you have too much work we can go tomorrow."
Rajveer shook his head "Nahi, tum rest le lo Main aa raha hoon jaldi," he assured her and walked out, leaving her alone.
The door clicked shut, and Aaradhya sighed, looking around the room.
Aaradhya's POV:
"What should I do now?" I muttered pacing the room.... My gaze landed on the locked cupboard in the corner—a place I rarely opened.
Curiosity got the better of me and I found myself unlocking it.... Inside was an old bag I had brought from Delhi filled with things I had kept safe for years.
I dug through it and pulled out a tiny pendant its delicate design glinting in the light.
"There it is," I murmured.
I held it up examining it closely "I don't know why but I've always been attached to this It's the only thing I've had since childhood."
Setting it aside my eyes landed on a stack of books One title caught my attention—Haunting Adeline.
"Yeh toh incomplete reh gayi thi," I realized, flipping through its pages.
I settled onto the bed finding my place in Chapter 16 and let myself get lost in the story (fast forward)
Time slipped away until my phone buzzed and Kavya's name appeared on the screen.
.....
Rajveer's POV:
When I returned to the room, Aaradhya was nowhere in sight
"Aaradhya?" I called out, checking the washroom and balcony.
As I turned back, I noticed a book lying open on the bed "Chapter 16 of Haunting Adeline"
"Was she reading this before I came?" I wondered, picking it up.
I flipped through a few pages, and my eyes widened "What the... this is what she reads?"
Curiosity got the better of me and I read a little more before shutting the book abruptly "Oh god, I can't I mean, it's so ew but nevermind if she likes it-," I muttered.
Just then Aaradhya entered. Her eyes darted to the book in my hands panic flashing across her face.
"Aap kya kar rahe hain? Book dijiye idhar!" she exclaimed, rushing toward me In her haste, she tripped and fell onto me.
"Sharm aur haya naam ki cheezein hain ya chhor di? Akeli padh rahi ho saath mein padhte na," I teased while smirking.
Her cheeks turned crimson "Kya... don't tell me ki aapne Chapter 16 padh liya?" she asked horrified.
