As soon as my sister leaves, someone's careful hold on chaos almost breaks free. Laurence looks as though he'd be on fire if it weren't for the impossibility of the action. Thankfully, it doesn't take long after she vanishes for the air to settle from the previous tenseness.

Laurence's anger is palpable. He shouts a curse before turning around, pressing his palms into the back of his head. There's a moment where he stands like this before he lowers his arms and walks toward the ladder, seemingly making his mind up about something.

Katelyn presses a hand to her temple as Kawaii~Chan and Lucinda burst into conversation. The pair, while a magic user and a witch respectively, seem determined to help Lady Aphmau from whatever is afflicting her. Though, I don't think Katelyn appreciates the two of them talking over the other.

Zoey seems pointedly quiet, and she stares into the distance. My initial thought was that she was looking in the direction my sister went, but given she's a mortal elf, I doubt that greatly. That doesn't stop the narrowing of her eyes like she's deep in thought.

"What do you know about what just happened?" Katelyn's voice cuts through the surrounding noise as she asks me a question.

I sigh, before responding. "Not much. I know that this thing with their healing abilities has been around for as long as they've known each other. I'm honestly surprised it hasn't come up before."

"That's because Shade used her magic on Aphmau before you got here," Zoey interjected.

I must look perplexed enough about that because Katelyn responds before I can even ask. "It was pretty early on, about two months ago. Lillian had come to taunt Shade with a message from Zane. An unknown archer in the treeline shot Aphmau when the guards were distracted."

I hum. "I was told that my sister took the wound."

"Yeah. She did." Katelyn crosses her arms. Her eyes are narrowed and seemingly studying me. "When she healed her, it removed all remnants of the wound from Aphmau's side, and in return, Shade is the one who suffered from it."

After she finishes, I nod, lower my head, and pinch the bridge of my nose. With a deep breath, I mutter insults under my breath and pray to Namid that my sister picks up the sound.

"Where do you think she went?" Zoey asks. When I look up again, she's looking into the distance, the same place that she was before.

"I have no idea. And I cannot tell if it would be a good one to go find her."

"Laurence went looking already." Katelyn nods her head in the direction of the ladder.

"He's not afraid of what she'd do when upset," I state.
