Her story
The sky was painted in a yellow-orange ombre with the white clouds adding intricacy to the endless artwork above their heads. It was a breezy late afternoon and rows of foldable chairs were set next to each other.
Mesmerized by the wide open field with the leaves singing a melody and the grass dancing with the wind, Lea sat as she sipped in a cup of coffee.
While her eyes landed on the beautiful scenery in front of her, with Elli just enjoying their time there while she tries to catch a butterfly, another pair of eyes beside her were also appreciating one of God's masterwork. Lea herself.
Aga wanted time to stop at that time. He wanted to have control over the ticking of the clock so that he could live that moment forever. It seemed like a perfect and quiet day. Just him, his wife, and their child. What more could he ask for?
Maybe freedom? Or perhaps another chance? More time with them?
His alter-ego whispered as it reminded him of his reality. Everything is not meant to last long. And it was a bitter pill to swallow despite not having to put it in his mouth yet.
"You're staring at me again." Lea was not looking at him as she said those. She knew how those lovely eyes felt when it was on her.
"Ang ganda kasi masyado ng misis ko para hindi titigan." He said in a language not so foreign but seldom for them to use. Despite not being the best in speaking Tagalog, how the words rolled out his mouth made Lea feel like she was an expert because her heart understood every word he said.
"Bolero!" There came the accent as she giggled when she felt heat rising to her cheeks.
"Kinilig ka naman?" He added fuel to their exchange of sweet bantering.
"Heh!" Her eyes rolled as she looked back at Elli.
"Parang kailangan na nating sundan para hindi sa paru-paro nakikipaglaro." He chuckled after the sentence, realizing that he sounded desperate.
"Oh? Why not do it alone? You're the one who's going to give birth?" Her eyebrow raised at him which earned another set of laughs.
"You're too moody, PIM. Meron ka?" His lips protruded, leaning closer to her. It wasn't the best move because he was reached by her abusive hands.
"Stop talking if you're just going to annoy me." Her arms crossed. Aga immediately came closer as he tried cajoling her.
"Joke lang eh. Pikon naman ng misis ko." He chuckled as he embraced her sideways. He knows how it works like magic, his clingyness has a certain effect on her that she can't restrain herself from responding, in favor of him.
Silence dominated as Elli's giggles filled their hearts with love.
"Do you really want another baby?" Lea broke the glass of the sound of nothingness. Aga looked at her and their eyes met.
"You're asking me as if we could just buy it." He laughed at his own words as he pointed out her tone.
"Seriously, Aga!" She groaned, losing patience with his joking response.
"It's still up to you, PIM. I'm ready whenever He will bless us with another one. It's you who I am worrying about. You're going to carry the baby for 9 months. Endure all changes in your body. Go through the pain of labor then postpartum pa. Although I'm going to be the one who'll suffer from your hormones, ngayon pa nga lang eh..." He looked at her as if his eyes were judging her. Lea flicked his forehead as she raised her eyebrow at him.
"Aray! Joke lang, syempre! We'll go through everything together. But what more can I do than be a support system? Aside from giving everything you want and taking care of you? Those are the bare minimum." He held her hand as they both looked at a very heart warming scene: their child.
