The plane landed more than an hour ago, we found ourselves waiting for a cab, fingers intertwined with Niall's.

"You okay?" I ask him as I gave the driver my mom's address.

"Uh. Yeah. Yeah." He smiled at me, I squeeze his hand to reassure him and he kisses my cheek.

The ride home was long, every block we came closer brought a painful pang on my chest, I watch as the path slowly became familiar, I take in a deep breath as we reach my block.

"You ready?" Niall asks me and I nod.

We climb off the cab, as Niall jogs his way to the trunk, grabbing our stuff. I take small steps towards my house. Every step smaller each time. I count the familiar pebbles on the ground that was all gathered in a shape of a circle forming a path to the front door. My breath heavy each step, i swallow as my eyes reach the front porch, the wall on the side of the house that brought memories when someone wrote on it. My palms sweaty, as i fiddled with my fingers.

You're ready Skylar.

You can do this.

We can do this.

I can do this.

My thoughts vanish when i hear a familiar bell, the sound the door makes when it opens. My mom stares at me in awe, her hands covering her lips as she stood there. A smile spreads my lips as she opens her arms for a hug, I walk towards her, but now every step bigger than the last, before I knew it i was running, in the short moment before reaching my mother, all the pain vanishes. I guess that's what a mothers love can do.

"I missed you so much." I murmur through her shoulder as she squeezed me tighter.

"I missed you too sweetheart." She whispered.

We pull away and she stares at me, away from me to where Niall was. She smiles and gathers him in his arms as well.

"Let's get inside, the sky is getting dark." My mom tells us as we gather our stuff inside.

"I made hot chocolate!" She yells as she escapes to the kitchen.

I walk around the house, as I trailed my fingers through the photographs that stood on top of the living room drawer. Bits of memories flashing through my mind like a play back being played and pause every 2 seconds. Soon enough I was climbing the stairs to my room. I walk in, the window being the first thing my eyes laid on, the window where Niall climb in through because he said he missed me. I found myself slightly smiling at the memory, the unused guitar by my bed, I could hear clearly how he played Beautiful Goodbye to me as I fell asleep.

I feel arms wrap around my waist, knowing exactly who it was. I could feel his breath against my ear, as I relaxed my head on his chest.

"Remember?" I say in a whisper. I could feel his heartbeat on the small of my back as I hear him chuckle.

"Yeah." He tells me, my fingers wrapped around his wrist in front of me. It was refreshing to remember good memories instead of the horrible ones. I guess the thought of remembering scared me but I had to remind myself that it was the past and it will stay in the past.

Its different now.

Soon enough we were all gathered on the kitchen table, drinking hot chocolate as I hear the pitter patter of the rain on the roof and window. It calmed me. Niall told my mom how it all happened, how we happened. Telling her stuff that's been going on since I left, while she told us how dad was and how she was. I found out my mom is now working as a waiter in this little restaurant across town so that was all good. It was refreshing to be back, scary but I guess maybe it is time to just gather the past and put it all in a closet and never open it again.

While Niall showered I was talking to Sam on the phone trying to avoid the topic of telling her shit she wanted to know before I left. I would shift the topic everytime she would remind me, I know she noticed and I know she's annoyed about it but she continues to let it go.

After the call I hear the sound of the shower stop, knowing Niall was finish, I hear the bathroom door open and close as I hear footsteps towards me. I could feel the water drop on my toes from his hair, a grin spreads across my face as I grab a pillow and smashing it on his face before he could even protest. I burst into giggles as he jumps on top of me, his arms wrapped around my waist. We fall on the bed and he chuckles as I continue to hit him with a pillow, he digs his fingers in my waist and I bursted out laughing.

"O...Kay... St-st-stop.. Ohmygosh! Sto-stop it!" I say through bits of laughter.

He lets me go as we lay down the bed, eyes closed, our fingers intertwined.

"Promise me something." I tell him with no emotion in my voice. He faces me, his eyes filled with concern.

"Promise me you'll stay." I swallow, my fingers tighten around his.

He stares at me, silently. My eyes stuck on the ceiling cause I'm scared that if I even blinked I would cry. I bit my lip, as he just stares at me. I don't see him but I could feel his sharp gaze through the side of my face.

"Look at me." He says in a whisper, it took a while before I did. I take in sharp breaths, fighting the tears as I bit my lip.

I was supposed to say something but the words vanishes in my mind as he kisses me. Hard. His left hand against my cheek. The kiss salty because of my tears. The kiss ends as he wipes my tears away, he stares at me for a moment before speaking.

"I will never leave.

Cause leaving you would mean to die.

And I'm not ready to die yet.

You're my home."
